ASC Mclaren on facebook

I put together a new person on facebook named asc mclaren. We can post our cars pics on there, etc. For those who frequent facebook or have been thinking about it. I made it initially for Capris but may as well be for Mustangs also. Thanks all

Again, I really urge people to think twice about using Facebook. You're information is really not safe there.

No Facebook for me, Mikes right its not safe. Too many "eyeballs" You will sell your safe out on Facebook and you can NOT take it back or change it!

Facebook sells any and all of your information. When I mean all, I mean ALL.

Once you put all that stuff on Facebook, they catalog everything and know you inside and out. I'm not a big fan of the business model.

There are no ads here. No one is going to sell your info. No one really knows who's email goes with what name/car/etc.

People think Facebook is a free ride...but it's not. Your information goes into their database to be sifted and sorted...and sold.

I am not really against what they do, it is more their cavalier attitude towards people's information. They flip settings to open up your info to the world and you have to constantly go in and make sure they are turned back on.

Agreed in part Mike, but your ignorance as to the wealth of personal information available on www.ascmclaren.org along with user name, home address and email address is quite amazing!

The only info on here is what YOU opted to put up, and its not verified anyway. If you wanted you could say your from the moon, 123 fake street, and username you could enter and change whenever you please.

I just lfixed my life because of a women at a location Allstate branch put MY personel information on the web. I told her that I did not want Allstate insurance because its rated one of the WORST insurances to have. ( Google
"Find bad insurance companies" )I told her this and in return see put my name, phone etc into a date base Then the problems started! If you feel Face book is safe then just put YOUR personel information on it! If I Google my name, there is information on me like me phone, a picture of my home etc. With out my OK! If you feel that you can TRUST your information there. Put your name , SS number, DL number etc! on it

WE ARE NOT TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGED WE ARE CAREFUL.

Facebook is safe if you make it safe. i have never used any stupid add on programs like farmvill or any other stupid facebook games or add on.

Oh, I'm in no way ignorant of that. I know I have info on here. You can even get my contact info from the web site registration, etc. There is always certain things you have to expect o have public on the web.

However, let's say I go to Facebook and send a message to a Urologist. That link to that person sold to who knows what. Now I get VIAGRA emails/ads, etc. People linked to me might even get a notice "HEY, YOUR FRIEND MIKE HAS CONTACTED THESE PEOPLE, MAYBE YOU SHOULD TOO". Could my name pop up at my insurance company about needing to find out if I'm at risk for something I'm looking into?

I don't even like to use my GMAIL or HOTMAIL much because I have no idea how they mine that information.

If it's free, YOU are the product.

I started running a script blocker just the other day. It tells me what sites are running scripts on what other sites I visit. Guess who has a script running on ebay (my son wanted some Legos)? Facebook. Yahoo.

I think people don't realize how insidious the tracking of your on-line habits are.

Right Mike. And you can't stop it. Companies want to know what you're interested in and track you for that info. That's how they make money, selling that info.

Another 'trick' I use when contacting someone or ordering something from a new source, I add an 'apt. #' to the address. That way when I get an offer, from someone I've never done business with, I complain to the original recipient about their selling my address. For instance:

13268 Honeymoon Ln 4. When you start getting mail addressed that way, you know who the originator is.

The worst offender I've ever found? American Lung Association. They sell their mailing list to everybody. Next worst was American Express. I no longer do business with them, and haven't for years, but I still get mail from unrelated companies with a sales pitch.

I have no problem with facebook but I eliminate 'cookies' everyday. Just click 'Safety' at the top of the page. Click 'Delete Browsing History' and when the box opens uncheck everything except Temporary Internet Files, History and 'Cookies', and BINGO, you're pretty much cleared of anything tracking your every move!
