pull down motor
My 1985 the pulldown motor for the top burned out. does anyone know of a motor that might be cross referenced; say from a trunk pulldown? or is the only option buying it from the one source in FLA
Pull Down
Look for the part from the same year Caddy. Pretty common part. The plastic housing tends to break too. You can find new housings on ebay. There are 2 types of motors. I think 1 is 3 pins and the other is 4 pins. There is also a switch that clamps on the top that has a seperate part number.
Might not be the motor but the relay assembly in the trunk.

My motor didn't work and the relay in the trunk wasn't getting power. The pull down motor and relay use the rear window defrost curcuit (gray-yellow wire) for power. I traced it down to the heated seat relay (uses the same curcuit) in the dash behind heater controls. The heated seat element shorted out and fried the relay. Since the heating element was bad, I unhooked the relay and I jumpered the connector. The jumper wire I made has in-line fuse, just in case.
I picked up a spare motor from an 80's Olds. Some Lincolns also used the same motor.

On my car the inline fuse is close to the passenger side shock tower.
