Green proto

Post by #67 Black Mac' »

Hello Mike & Sandy,

Do either, or both of you, remember this thread from a few years ago?

http://www.ascmclaren.org/phpBB/viewtop ... onvertible

It seems to just dead end. Were any photos or more complete info ever received by either of you?

Came across it looking for more info on the Green 84 convertible in Mo.

Thx

Ron

Nope.

I think the owner pops up now and again but I've never seen any more info on the car.

It all ended with the last post, above.
I waited & waited...and then I totally forgot about it.

There was apicture, on here, like a month or 2 ago of a green ascMcLaren convt. backed into a driveway - but I do not know if THAT was THE car, or a car that was repainted in green. The car that I was described was a 1984 ascMcLaren 2-seat roadster in DARK Green Metallic, with Sand Beige Recaros, and the tan roof (cloth). It (I was told) had the Lexen tailight covers, (as on the coupes) and those funky black-plastic "louver pieces over the headlights (like open venietion blinds). Her wheels were gold, she had a rear driver-side power antenna. I do not know (or recall) what transmission it had. Person #1 was gonna put me in touch with person #2 whom I suspect was the owner. I am pretty sure it was in Florida. I can't recall if it was Henry Huisman -OR- someone else who had it.

The green one in Missouri is an 84 #43 of 50.
The present owner doesn't have a full history of the car.
He had several communications with you on a thread in April of 2009 when he first bought the car in central Mo. In the one below, you seemed to know the owner prior to him, a Mr. Ray Noble, who was deceased.

ALL ascMcLaren Convertibles were painted BLACK exterior at & by FORD on the initial assembly line....UNLESS the interior was BLUE ! IF the interior was BLUE, it got paintedf an exterior of WHITE !! That is why you are finding BLACK underneath. AFTER the black at Ford, ascMcLaren repaintedf ALL of them (100%) in the ordered color. Yours was done in Atlantic Blue. then, it was again re-done to abuyer's wishes, in a Dark Jade Green. She has 3 coats of paint on her (at the very least)!
Did Ray Noble Pass Away ???????

Sandy]

The reason that I posted here is that I am working with the present owner on a possible long distance purchase, but am attempting to research as much of its history as I can first.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Is the one you are working on the Ray Nobel car? Is the one in Green pictured on this site a couple weeks ago, THE Ray Noble car....OR another Green car? Beware of repaints by private owners.

The "prototype" we were talking about is not this other Green 84 asc. The green proto had a 1983 vin but tons of 1985 parts on it. It is/was in Florida.

Mike,
I am glad to hear that the one that I am working on is not the proto--well, at least I think I am!

Sandy
The present owner is the same person that you communicated with a year & a half ago about it.

Evidently it was the Ray Noble car. Do you have any past history on this car, (Ray Noble & back) that you could share with me?

You're talking about CHAZ's car? He goes by 83ASC @ FEP. The original exterior color (as painted by Dearborn) was 1B - Medium Charcoal Metallic and the original interior color (as installed by Dearborn) was Black.

Mike & Sandy,
I don't know if you guys are archiving info on that 83, but here is a FEP thread with photos of it just in case:

Maybe. The numbers don't add up for that car.

The 83 vin may or may not be for that car. I have my reservations with all the craziness that's going on with that car.

Not that it also can't be changed, but the Buck Tag matches the VIN.

The Buck Tag cannot be from any year but '83.

A fender needs to be pulled off to see if the CUN tab beneath it matches the VIN and buck tag.

Yeah I asked that a while back.

Sandy said he had some info on the car or something.

Sandy asked me to have him call. I couldn't find his email. Do you know what his FEP account name is?
