'87 McLaren on C/L St Heights Michigan $4,900
Hi Guys
Today I took my lunch break and looked over the 1987 McLaren Mustang at Suburban Ford in St Heights Michigan. First of all the pictures do not tell the story! This car is in rough shape!
73,000 miles
Black with a gray two/tone interior.
The car has the original paint on it and I will explain each panel
and bumpers:
Hood: rust blisters starting on front and around the headlights
Front Bumper was good with some minor wear.
Drivers front fender, marks, small rust blisters, scratches.
Drivers door , bad hinge scratches, rust starting under the door seam.
Drivers rear Qt panel Rust starting on the lip, scratches.
Rear deck /lid Trashed! Rusted out on the seam and holes starting
on the inside of the truck lid ( someone used a spray can to cover the
rust)
Pass side Qt panel It had a VERY large rust blister just above the
molding. Also the wheel well lip was rusting.
Pass side door. Rusted out and will need to be replaced. Just south
of the lower hinge the door rusted out on both sides.
Pass side fender. small rust blisters
Rear bumper was good.
Headlights starting to yellow.
Interior:
Drivers seat ripped, just near the power switch for the top. This was
caused by using the seat belt. 1 inch size hole and a lot of wear marks.
Pass, side seat stained with a marker, Dirty
Carpeting, dirty, stained and it smelled.
Dash was good, but the steering wheel was worn, Consule lid was
broken.
Pass, side armrest was broken right off the panel,
Both control panels on both arm rests worn out!
Tires very good
Wheels very good
Power top: Looked good , But the release button did not work,
I used the cables to release the Tonn, cover. But I could not get
the top to release, (bad relay) or( pull down motor)
Undercarriage: Rusted! I started to push through on the pass, side
floor and it was flaking away. Surface rust on everything.
Engine: Ran well! as most 5.0 liters due, but the valve covers leak
and the smoke started. Also the water pump appeared to leaking,
because you could smell the coolant. The under hood looked bad!
the pictures do not show the whole story. Rust on the shock towers,
peeling on many painted surfaces. All rubber hoses, lines etc,
looked very old.
Transmission; Fluid was very dirt and smelled burnt. (I did not drive
the car)
In my opinion, Its worth about $3200-$3500 dollars, It could be
restored , but for about $8,000-$10,000. To make it right! This
McLaren was probably mint 5-6 years ago. But the last owner drove
it through the winters here in Michigan, The last three have been very
bad on cars.
Take car! Chris
