Air Cleaner Lid

Post by darkhorse40 »

I brought the new ride to the airport today so I could put the plastic I got for the windows in more properly.

I was looking at the air cleaner and deciding where I was going to get the new decal.

On closer inspection, I couldn't determine whether it was a decal or painted on. It is extremely worn, but looks like paint, as the edge of the lettering has texture.

Does someone have an air cleaner that is original, or does someone know for certain if a decal was used?

Originals do seem to be painted on.

The only alternative to restoring it is to buy the decals.

I had a decal once, it seemed to be fairly thick. I don't know what they are like now.

The reason I ask is that I want make template that I can print on my computer on hard card stock, place it on the lid and shoot it.

Don't know how well it will work until I try.

If it works, I can share it with you guys.

Looks like there's a decal for sale on Ebay that would be what you're looking for. It' s a 'for sale' item with no listing number.

I Googled: 5.0 ho decal

and it popped up. But it expires in 13 hours.

CFI
I used this one and it seems to be holding up well. I can't say the same to the bare aluminum cover with the hood pad rubbing it.
