This is the only other ASCMcLaren that I've seen that says, "ASCMcLaren" on the intake manifold!

And no one knows why all the rest say. 5.0 H.O. and at least 2 don't.

So, now I know of 3. But why only 3? What sets them apart from the others? Mine's an '86 and on the Capri version. The other 2 are Mustang chassis.

Probably never know the answer.

Nice car. For anyone who may care or be potentially considering the purchase of this particular McLaren, the current owner is not lying about it being an original California car. In the photo of the engine bay you can clearly see the mass airflow sensor near the airbox. In 1988 the ONLY 5.0 liter Mustangs built that way were those that had to meet Californias much stricter emissions standards. 49-state cars received the update in 1989 model year and up. The 5-speed trans is definitely a rarity. Hope he gets the price. Think we'd all like to see these cars finally wake up and get some collector recognition price-wise.
1988 ASC-McLaren Red/Blk/Gray 5-speed
1990 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10 Superbike (Update - SOLD!)
Various other rusty junk strewn about the yard
No blood in these veins... thats Mobil-1~!!
