I had posted about a power drop-off soon after I bought the Green Machine.
Thought it was one of the pumps. But no. Pressure is good and consistent.
Thought it was the throttle position sensor. Testing gave a code 23. Improper voltage at computer on. Voltage is supposed to be .5 at startup and a meter showed 1.5.
So I set up to replace the part. Took the air cleaner off to identify it's location and make a list of tools before I went to get it.
There I saw a bare naked wire able to arc or ground out with vibration. I taped it, started the engine and was happy to find a smoother idle at a lower rpm and after a test drive, no power dropoff at 1800 - 1900 rpm.
I'll be spending the afternoon tomorrow just poking around looking at wires for corrosion and splits or breaks. Reminds me of replacing the corroded fuel relay receptacle on the '87. It was under the seat and saw alot of moisture.
Anyone else have a wiring horror story. Want to check everything I can.
