Good job so far, the motor is ok. Now work backwards from the motor to find if a switch is mis-adjusted or bad. Apply power like you did to the motor, but now through each switch.. Follow the diagram on Hanks site:

My rocker switch went bad. Bought a new one from Hank.

Good Luck.

There is a wire I believe yellow or gray/yellow that originally fed the rear window defrost. It's this one that give power to the motor and switch. It comes from a relay box somewhere behind the radio area, goes to the driver side kick panel and run in the sill plate to the rear quarter panel near wheelhouse where it feed another relay box. On my car the front relay box around radio is protected by a inline fuse that is near the passenger side front shocktower in the engine compartment. Hope this help ! Good luck !

P.S. The front relay box was I believe for the heated seat if the car was to be equiped with them. My car has no heated seat but has the box.

No heated seats in Canada? That's a bummer!

I have heated seats in Florida. Doubt they've ever been turned on!
