Which is correct cargo cover?

My '85 Coupe is missing the rear cargo cover. I am finding that there seem to be two different styles available - one with holes above the rear speakers and one that is solid with no holes. Which one is correct for an '85 ascMcLaren Coupe? I looked through the Coupe albums, but didn't see any pics of extended cargo covers.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know why there are two different styles - is one for Mustangs and the other for Capris? Is it dependent on the stereo the car came with? Is one for 85's the other 86's?

I think the early ones 84 and earlier had the holes.

Now I gotta go check.

Did you look on FEP? I know it is answered there somewhere. When I get home tonight I can tell you exactly which one I have.

I'm going to say that in 84 they used both. The ones with holes went on cars that got rear speakers. Some 84s didn't get rear speakers so those shades were solid with no holes.

In 85, you lost that option, and ALL normal production cars got rear speakers so they probably just put all cargo shades with holes in.

My virgin 1986 coupe has no holes in the cargo shade and has rear speakers - but I think they were not there when it left the assembly plant because it's with Alpine speakers and branded as such.

I do NOT think I do !! The big white "circle" is one of those push-on battery operated (with a push) LITE because Ford 4-got to put s lite bsck there !!! I will be going soon to see her and I will look REAL good. Watch this space

No, Sandy, look right to the right of the flag. There is about 8" of rolled up cargo cover showing there. There are holes visible in the material.

My late built 84 SVO (May 84) has speaker holes in the cargo cover. I'm sure we have had this conversation before about the rear speakers.

By 86, I believe the rear speakers and wiring was standard (included in all builds) and some cars got speaker grills without speakers. Probably radio delete cars. It would make sense that cars built with factory speakers would have holes in the cargo covers and that all 86 covers would have holes. This statement about cargo covers is not a fact but would make sense to be true.

Okay, I see what ya mean, now...but next nice weather day, I am going over there to wax her & I'll take a look. You got some great eyesight. I had too, until we began chemo. Chemo makes everything crappy.
