There was one I think. It was the brochure car. I think it stayed at asc and then maybe got sold off somewhere, but no idea.

Sandy knows it I think.

I would not hold my breath that that guy knows what he's got. It's probably not an asc or not a 1991 car.

Thanks that's kinda what I thought. I will still investigate best case it's a 90 worst case it is a regular Mustang.

I have the last car. It's Azura Blue (the sole Azura Blue 1990) ~
It has the Light & Dark Crystal Blue Interior, with the dark blue cloth roof.
It's an automatic tranny with the remote lock / unlock key fob, the illuminated entry, the Whistler radar as installed by asc/McLaren and the 360-degree bumper-body-bumper tape stripe (silver metallic) inset into the recess of the front & rear bumper fascia. It's mileage is 2,332 miles.
I bought new and it was shipped to my local Lincoln-Mercury dealer, that is about 9 miles from my house, where it was serviced, and went through the "proper" channels of a new car delivery service.

However..

There were other companies, that made copy-cats that looked VERY MUCH the same, at a glance, to our cars, but they are NOT asc/McLarens and were NOT specially prepaired BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY, for asc/McLaren's conversion process, and have never been AT the Autry Street location, that asc/McLarens all were shiped to.

Sandy, what cars are you speaking of? What company? I've never heard of another company that made McLaren lookalikes.

It shouldn't be too hard to tell even if its wearing alot of GT trim. If it has the raked back windshield and the custom fabricated rear quarters/tonneau area - that will tell if its an ASC. Pretty hard to hide those characteristics.

I have come across a couple ASCs thru the years that for whatever reason, had period correct GT wheels, GT skirts, Taillamps....

I'd be very interested in seeing pics of this 1 of 1 '91 if it really does exist. Talk about a hell of a collectible car......

I dug out Sandy's comment:
1991 Prototype Mustang ascMcLaren 'Verts = 2 (actually 1990s upgraded for trade shows.
So they were actually 1990 cars.

Shelbycarb, When I said "Copy-Cats" -- I meant Mustangs taken of new Ford Dealers lots and turned into 2 seaters. From 500 feet awqy, a blind man could see that they were NOT McLarens....

HERE YA GO....

This is a
1990
but it was "treated" to the ALTERATIONS that were PROPOSED for the 1991 asc/McLaren program. Note the rear spoiler. It wears 1989/1990 wheels (asc/McLaren) - - but, it was to get a NEW wheel design, which had NOT YET been approved !!! Also, many new colors, but fewer interior color selections.

No asc/McLarern bears a 1991 code VIN

NO MUSTANG WITH A 1991 VIN WAS EVER MADE INTO AN ASC/mc LAREN 2-SEAT CONVERTIBLE! NO... NEVER....

THE RED EXAMPLE WAS A STYLING EXERCISE TO ILLASTRATE THE NEW STYLE REAR SPOILER. THE NEW WHEELS WERE YET TO BE CHOSEN !!

NOW THEN..... THERE WAS A SECOND CAR, TOO. A 1990 ASC/MC LAREN IN WHITE, WITH A WHITE VINYL ROOF. IT WAS ON DISPLAY AT A MICHIGAN INDOOR SHOW. IT WEARS THE 1991 SPOILER, AS PER THE RED ONE PICTURED AND SHOWING THE ACCEPTED NEW WHEELS !!!

BUT I CANNOT FIND IT !!! DAMN. IT HAS WHILE LEARTHER (I THINK)
