1990 rare option

Some have said that my 1990 wears an aftermarket 360-degree tape stripe. This is untrue !!
IN 1990 (only)ascMcLaren offered the 360 bumper-body-bumper tape stripe at $49.00 extra. I have found only 1 other car with this item. Here is a picture of it, and it looks it was taken when it was brand new in dealers indoor stock. Car is Sterling Silver, The Duo-Tone Medium & light Grey interior with black cloth roof and the 360-degree stripe, in black.

Thanks! But... I am scared to drive it. N.J. drivers are very aggressive and I could lose it. Best time to drive these special cars is Sunday morings, May thru October around 7AM to 8AM

Sandy, I could certainly be wrong but I believe the tape stripe in the photo you provided of the silver car was added by someone. Right off, it appears to be an '87 - '88 car based on the wheel style as '89-'90 were different. The true tell though is the stripe is only 1/2 height around the front bumper instead of fully filling the indentation.

The cars ASC did in-house apparently have a full-height stripe around the front as it should. Since these cars had a GT nose grafted on by Ford (as per your information) prior to being sent for conversion, the body cladding around the rest of the car is LX trim with a thinner profile where the stripe goes. If you look carefully at the moldings you'll see what I mean.

I currently have the tape material bought new from the dealer to do my car, but am still gyrating back and forth about it being an improvement in appearance or a distraction. Either way, hope you're feeling well these days and always appreciate the wealth of information.

I was wrong about that car. You are good !!!!

I have been in and out the hospital for the past 8 days.

PS/ That car is a very late 1988.
It wears 1987/1988 side ground effects, but 1989/1990 exterior mirrors & the side mouldings are too narrow and ditto the front moulding.

Something is foul therein............
