Post by 75coug »

Hey, at least the list-maker included it. I'm impressed.

I have big problems with this so-called listing of the best of the best Mustangs.

#1. -Did the author omit ANY Saleen ?
#2. - Some of the models were 1-off(s) for car shows
#3. - Some of the pictured were styling studies, and were never offered to the general public for purchase
#4. - Was ANY "Cobra omitted?
a-n-d......
#5. ONLY ONE vehicle on the listing was pre-prepped for the ultimate convertor, by Ford Motor Company, to that convertor's needs & wants....and THAT was car # 91 on the list.

1. Good question. I think that Saleen was looking over the shoulder of the list-maker and poking him with a stick whenever he considered omitting a single Saleen product.

5. The 1966 Anniversary Gold Edition? Haha. Sandy, I know that your "#97" was a typo, and that you meant #91. I couldn't help myself,
though. i fixed that !!! ~~ Sandy

Rarest Mustang

Post by foraye »

OOOOkay....

BEST...this is a very subjective category, probably based on the writer's preferences...you'll see this in the year and pictures of some mustangs that do not line up!

So I prefer the 100 most RARE...a quantifiable categoryhttp://mustangboards.com/lounge/16330-1 ... tangs.html Of course rare does not mean most desirable/expensive. In that case the 60s -70s mustangs and shelbys would run away with it.

Saleen made/makes GREAT cars that most envy, and even some more rare than most ASC cars... I own an 88 ASC and will own a real fox body Saleen one day also. I had a 90 tribute saleen for years and loved it!

Even in this list you must admit that Saleen has some very rare cars indeed.

Cool article, though with plenty of errors by the author. Not going to get involved in the argument of 'best ever'... blah blahhh, too subjective but I'll echo others sentiments - just glad to see the honorable mention.

If I'm not mistaken though, I think that might just be a photo of Hanks ultra-rare, 1990, one-of-one, Coral Pink Pearl car. The photo properties have a tagline mistakenly stating its an '87... which it absolutely is not. Look at the wheel design and the ground effects. That just doesn't look anything like traditional ASC 'red' to me by a longshot unless the lighting is playing some crazy tricks. Assuming that is the car, it has a black top, gray leather, and is also a 5-speed. Anyhow, thought it was worth mentioning since if I'm correct... I'm betting few have ever actually seen the car. Either way, it's a great shot.
1988 ASC-McLaren Red/Blk/Gray 5-speed
1990 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10 Superbike (Update - SOLD!)
Various other rusty junk strewn about the yard
No blood in these veins... thats Mobil-1~!!
