High-quality outdoor car cover for Mustang? Any suggestions?
High-quality outdoor car cover for Mustang? Any suggestions?
Hello,
There is an unfortunate possibility that I will be losing my garage space, and I can't really justify storage expenses given my current situation. Does anybody have any suggestions for a high-quality, breathable cover?
Also, if you have any suggestions on canopies, let me know. Not sure this will be an option given city ordinances in my area.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bryan

Sandy, do you know which to order? I got a California Cover for A mustang GT (1985) but it doesn't completely cover. The bubble back rear ground effects and front air damn require a bit more than the cover has.
Maybe I need one for a 1982 Mustang GT? They had a low front air dam too.

No, SORRY Mike. I would not even try to guess the part # nor year Fox car. I bought a Wolf for a 1990 Mustang LX 2-Dr. Sedan and it fits very well. I bought a 2nd for the other 'Vert. The Capri lives under like 6 blankets that wife did not want any longer.
We have too many cars - but they are like my "children" and I just cannot give 'em up for "adoption" 6 cars + son's car =7 It is getting to be too much for me to take care of. 1/2 the time I am sick-feeling from the chemo. Wife has relaxed about selling. Thank God.

Thanks, Sandy. I'll check it out. I was looking at the Weathershield HD that sells on Wolf's site. It's supposedly the most versatile in terms of moisture, UV and ding protection. But you certainly pay for it.
The thought of my baby sitting outside for the first time in the seven years I've owned her is truly depressing.

Cover
Using a cover inside is totally different than using one outside. I found out the hard way. The first cover I used outside, I found only reminants of it laying on the ground after 6 months. I own about 8 car covers and all are different. I have a few different uses but it's pretty much inside or outside use.
With that said, I just replaced my Weathersheild HD cover as the fabric started to breakdown just as the 5 year warranty ended. Yes, the CA sun can be brutal but I expected it to last longer for close to $500. The cover would also come off with some wind as it was fairly slippery. The cover was not waterproof but water resistant.
I just replaced it with a Sunbrell fabric cover. It has only been on about a week or two. It seems to be a bit better. I just checked it and the dew has not soaked thru. My only complaint is the puckering at the seams causes water puddles on top of the cover.

Thanks, svo413. The Sunbrella was another I was considering.
Luckily my off-street parking spot will get some shade (parked between two houses). I'll keep digging on reviews. It's a pretty hefty investment for a cover, but I suppose it's far, far cheaper than leaving her out in the elements or paying for storage. The latter is really hard to justify given the value of the car and my available resources.

I looked into this a couple months back when I first got my 85 vert. Here is the info I got from Covercraft. I have not yet purchased one but plan to purchase 2 - one for indoor, one for short term outdoor use (at car shows, etc). Hope this helps some. You might want to check with them yourself to make sure it fits your year.

I have a car cover on my 88GT from NPD, I needed something that would protect it but I didn't care about the quality so much as it needs paint. Once I get paint I will end up relooking at whats out there but....
The reason for my reply is I put it on my 86 Capri and it fits really good, it has room for the air dam and ASC Wing as well.
Just FYI

Just tried on the cover last night. The C13008 fits the Mustang like a glove. The side mirror slots are a little baggy, but it appears as though there wont be an water pocketing or puddling issues.
Pretty happy with the initial quality. We'll see how it holds up in the Atlanta weather. Luckily she's under a car port as well.
