Transmission Tip

Post by capri50asc »

Your car has the AOD transmission. There is three aftermarket companys that sell aftermarket AOD transmissions:

B&M racing and Performance $1,750
Contact B&M directly
TCI Automotive has two versions both around $2,025
Contact TCI through Summint Racing or Jegs High Performance
Performance Automatic Racing $2,200

All these transmission are built better then the factory units from Ford Motor Company. With features like:

Stronger fricton Plates
Kevlar overdrive bands
Heat treated Vasco shaft
Cooler operating temps
Improved lubrication

Give them a call!

The transmission will be stamped with the car's vin. You may want it rebuilt.

The front seal went in my '89 AOD at 180,000 miles in September. I had the local transmission shop rebuild mine for $1,050. I wanted to keep my ASC all matching. 1,000 miles so far and running very well.
