Wheel bearing issue 1985 coupe

Ok this was a lesson learned and I want to share:
I use a local Napa for standard replacement parts for my cars, went to purchase the front wheel bearings inner and outer, went ahead and purchased new rotors and after packing the listed inner bearing, it won't fit in the rotor's race... So after double checking to see what happened, napa lists the wrong part # for at least 85 and 86 capri and mustang inner wheel bearings and seals.
With this said, I have had prior BAD luck w Napa parts being wrong before.
Hopefully this saves one of you down the road
And I have no damn idea why I had a noisy front bearing, with 33xxx miles

I have had bad luck with NAPA parts. Period.

I avoid them.

Because a 26 year old car with only 33k miles on it doesn't get driven enough to heat up the bearings to remove the moisture in them, which leads to pitting. That and the bearing grease breaks down after a few years of being exposed to the atmosphere, which can also attack bearings and races.

Thanks for the info.... Sounds like what happened
As for Napa, I try to use them for the minor things as my friend is the manager of the local store however just can't figure out why the products 1/2 the time are wrong or fail.... They used to be quality parts

The bearing books seem to have some of 80s mustangs wrong. Look the bearing up for a 4cyl instead of v8. You should get the right one.

None of the parts houses are very correct for the 4I cars. Many have different listings for Capri vs the Mustang when we know there were no differences between the two models (I haven't seen any).

Aside from that, if you have the correct part numbers, please list them. Always good to have that info on hand.

FWIW, I have found NAPA to be more accurate than Advanced/Autozone for parts. The guys at my NAPA(s) are usually way more knowledgeable than the "kids" at the other places.

The correct inner is a BR13, they list BR5
The correct seal is 19221 not 19223
The smaller outer is a BR12 which was correct
And I also agree w Napa not being kids however when this same friend worked at one of those "others" the problems were less, many say echlin electronics were the best and are now terrible so I am sure saving money etc plays a large role in quality

Somehow along the way, the listings got mixed up. I believe the SVO wheel bearings and seals got mixed up with the standard ones. I had this problem about 7 year ago at an Advanced Auto Parts. The way I found it was the SVO listed the same part and I knew that was wrong.

Just ran in to similar problem with my work computer. Punch in the vin and it said it was a 2.5 turbo engine it was a plan 2.5. the info is only as good as the person entering the info

I always tell them it's an 85 mustang gt. the Capri parts are never right.
