1986 Coupe Window Sticker
1986 Coupe Window Sticker
Does anyone have a picture or scan of the window sticker for a 1986 Coupe? Did ASC replace the Mercury window sticker or add one of their own with the modifications in addition to the Mercury one?
I got a reproduction Mercury one from Marti Auto and was wondering if ASC replaced the factory one or added another one with their modifications.
If ASC had one of their own, it would be great to get one reproduced. Any assistance will be appreciated.

not 100% positive, but I believe they just had asc/McLaren-Livonia mi in the ship through section of the window stickers.
positive they did this on the majority of the 85 Motorsport Capri's.
& they also had a piece of paper showing it had work done after the factory.
see pic below (sorry for the bad pic, but the copy I got was done on 80's copier & is not so sharp)

Thanks Jason. My reproduction window sticker does have asc/McLaren in the ship through section. I thought they might add something like your picture showing the conversion and the costs. It would be great to find one to have a copy made. Would look pretty neat at shows. That is a pretty neat piece of documentation you have.
I wish Sandy was still with us. I'm sure he probably had the one for his car.
Wish I could have made your show you put on this past summer. Would have been great with all those Motorsport Capri's there.

Here is a direct scan of my copy with a bit of photoshop tinkering(as opposed to the above pic taken from a phone). a little better. sorry for the crap quality, but again, mine was a copy of the original done on a 80's copy machine by the original owner (who is long dead & current owner never got a copy).
I believe the dealers chose what extra to charge. Ford/Merc probably gave them a range for the Motorsport Capri. I believe the asc/McLaren Coupes & Verts had a fixed price.
they also should've had something like this so Mercury could cover their ass legally.

Sticker
The verts. had the sticker removed due to replacing the windows during the conversion. The stickers were not easily removed from the window back in those days. Technically, the stickers were not to be removed unless by the owner. Rules were a bit lax back then.
Adding a second sticker for the mods done to the coupe would have been the way to go and leaving the original sticker intact. Anyone could make up such a sticker and this seems to be true with the hand written prices. I have seen the second sticker on many dealer modified cars.
I scanned thru the site records and did not seen and signs of a second sticker.
I looked over the sticker for my 88 and found the color whited-out and the new color written in on the sticker. It seems they were still lax in 88.
Copies of the first sticker are available as the Emminger Report from Kevin Marti.

Thanks for scanning that Jason. It turned out pretty good considering what the original copy looks like. I would think the Coupes and Converts would have a fixed price.
Thanks Kevin for the info and the insights. Also for taking the time to look through site for a second sticker. I tried to get the Eminger report from Kevin Marti but they couldn't find it.

Reports
Yes, Technically, the Marti Report is data from the Ford factory. The Emminger Report is a carbon copy of the Ford Factory window sticker. Both of which were before ASC got their hands on the cars. I was able to get the Emminger report for my 85 Vert.

Chris,
Thanks for posting all the info. Really neat. Pretty cool you are the first owner of the car after all those years. My Marti report also says ASC McLaren and the reproduction window sticker has ASC in the ship address.
I love seeing original documents like you guys have posted. Thanks again for posting them.
