Need some info Car #111

Post by plumkrazy »

As you may know I just Bought the 86 ASC #111 off Ebay, anyway have not got it yet, but will post pictures if wanted. My question is what is a EUROCOUPE?
Any how can I find out the color and options that mine should have.
I'm sure when I get the car the Questions will really start to roll.
IN case all are wondering my plans are to REstore this car from the ground up.

EuroCoupe (47 made) was a 1986 Capri 5.0L that was not ordered under a D32 code to be specially prepaired to become an ascMcLaren. It was built as a 5.0L Capri RS (corresponding model to a Mustang GT). It was then shipped from Dearborn Mustang Assembly Plant to ascMcLaren in Livonia, Mi.
ascMcLaren added features to the car, but not everything that a "Full Packaged" unit had. In addition, ascMcLaren only made about 23 or 24 of the 47. The remaining 23 or 24 were shipped to NorthTowne Lincoln-Mercury of Kansas City, as stock Capris. The parts to transform them into a EuroCoupe were sent under seperate cover to NorthTown's Parts Department, and NorthTown sold thr parts in a "piece-by-piece" fashion. No NorthTown sold car has everything it was SUPPOSED to have. Buyers bought just the pieces THEY wanted. So, there are really like 23-25 true, ascMcLarenMade units. Post picts & I'll tell you what items you are mising and/or what is in error.....
EuroCoupes came in White, Black, or Medium Grey Metallic.
They could have 5-Speed Stick or Automatic, Solid Roof, T-Tops or manual Pop-Up Sunroof. They could have Power Door Locks, or not. Ditto Air Conditioning and or Speed Control. All of which would have been installed BY Ford at Dearborn.

By the way, **IF** your car has a Dash Plaque in front ofthe passenger seat (brushed silver, black lettering) that says:
"LIMITED EDITION ................. # 111" >> then it's NOT a EuroCoupe. It's a Full Packaged ascMcLaren. If you give me the last 6 digits of the VIN (starts with a "6" I'll give more info on that particular car.)

The Vin he gave is 1MEBP79M5GFF615779 Hoping to get the car Sunday. But pictures are a rolling body only. He says he has had a couple of Mclarens and would like to build one with the parts to removed.
