XP on the door tag

Post by negusm »

On my car, I do not have a color code on the door tag...just "XP". I was assuming that all the 1985/86 coupes which were blue would have "XP" on the tag.

However, there is an auction on ebay with a normal 85 capri 5.0L with "2A XP". The 2A would be Canyon Red Metallic which was available for the Capri 5.0L and the car looks to be painted correctly with the bottom blackout treatment.

I wonder what the "XP" meant for this car?

XP

XP is trim paint code for the gray lower. If you have a Ford microfilm go to card number 1, and it will list XP as the gray paint.

Ok makes sense. So why would my asc tag have "XP" on it? Shouldn't it either have 3L only or just blank?
