OT: Awesome 86 Capri on Ebay

unfortunately that auction did little to showcase the true beauty of that car. It really needs to be seen in person, and was an easy sale for the original owner when he advertised it for sale at the various area car shows. Mike M. and I are friends with the original owner.

The under-carriage looked showroom new. In addition, the original owner offered the current owner a collection of NOS Capri parts that has to be seen to be believed. He is a 35 year Ford Parts manager and bought at least 1 of everything on the car back in 86-87. 1/4's, Hood, fenders, full interior, you name it. The current owner turned it all down at what I believe was an excellent price for that kind of NOS collection. lastly, anything that was modified beyond stock under the hood was taken off and put into storage. All the chromed pieces were newly purchased items.

it did look great when he has the 85-86 SSP wheels on there painted Argent Silver with Mopar trim rings and SSP center caps.

Sandy you won't likely remember me, but I chatted with you on the phone back in 1999 when I bought a 1 way plane ticket to Kentucky to buy a red 1986 ASC Convert to drive home. It turned out to be a train-wreck and had to rent a car and drive home 1000+ miles. Lesson learned, don't trust digital camera from 1999! The car looked fantastic in the pictures.

Jason, I've spoken to many many Jasons over the years, with McLarens. If I had a last name, I probably would remember better. I love that white T-Top Capri in your avator. I assume it's yours ? Tellme more about it. Is it a (white) Black Magic? A 5.OL ? Year ?

Sandy it's the same one in the picture I posted in the other thread with my car, and the car in the ebay link in this thread...it's the one with a 500rwhp supercharged fuel injected motor!!! lol

Sandy, I got the 84 RS in 1988. The paint was in fair condition and I had a thing for super white paint which explains the color. The Canyon interior (dash/door panels, etc are all NOS) and the seats are from a wrecked GT-350 that only has 4k miles. I used to run a B&M 144 carb'd roots blower for several years in the mid 90's, but grew frustrated at tuning it. In 1998 I converted over to SEFI, knowing I wanted to continue running a blower. The current motor is a B50 block 331/TFS heads/Strim/55lb injectors. It's a real blast to drive when I have time (we have a 2 year old boy).

My other car is a 1986 Mustang convertible with 40k miles. I looked for 3 years and finally found what I was looking for. I forgot how quiet a stock 5.0 is. I am also a fan of the Mclarens which is why I went out 1000 miles to buy that 1986 Red Convertible. Fortunately my better judgement steered me in the right direction. They wanted $8000 and it was in need of a total resto. Currently, I'd like to a find a clean 86 White Convert w/ Blue interior for #3.

PS/I only go to 1 show a year. I got seriously injured at THAT show in 2002. I am just getting back to 100% of what I was, the day before May 23rd 2002. I have been going every year, but just as a spectator, because as a exhibitor, I was required to stay until 4:30PM. I couldn't do that. I think 2006 may be the 1st year I am able to return with a car. (I've had a leg problem, with severe pain.) THAT show is in Millburn, NJ. From Phila (I looked) Rt 1 thru Trenton/Lawrenceville up 30 miles from Lawrencevile, to the GSP (north 20 miles) to exit 148. 50 miles from Lawrenceville.

But....if you wish to drive here, you are invited to come & enjoy my cars.

thx for the comments. I put my wrecked 81 capri's hatch on the 84 back in the 80's when saleen style wings were the rage. When I re-paint the car, I am putting the bubble back on (sitting in storage since 1988) and moving the gauges to the inside of the car.

that is quite a collection of cars. We went to plenty of car shows this summer, a trip to NJ is no problem to see some of your cars next year!

Next Spring (G_D willing I am well for a change) it would be nice to get together with you guys from the shadows of Phila. Pa. As you know, I sometimes go down to see our son at college (Rider University) in Lawrenceville. So. I can tell you it's EXACTLY 1 hour & 7 minutes from there.
