Well, I took the '86 Coupe this morning to Wyman Ford. Yes, they are a great dealership, staffed with nice people. www.wymanford.com

It was dark when I left home. 6:50 AM, but I wanted to be on the road all alone. I darn near succeeded it that quest. I saw 4 other moving cars in the 8 mile ride from my house to the dealership. I had a full service, oil change & filter, checked all fluids, equalized tire air pressure, & put on the new distributor rubber cover that I bought last winter. (Yes, I kept the original, even though the new one is identical.

Coming home was different. Saturday, 11:40 AM everybody & their mother was on the road. This one guy in a newish BMW 335i Convertible in black is sitting next to me at a looong light, top down. He is eyeballing my car, but his KinG Sized ego prohibits him from asking what it is. I know he thought that it was a new car! I'm turning left, he is going straight. I juiced it a little and his neck snapped back & over his shoudler like a whip! It was really funny. Next light sits a VW Ricer. He takes off like outta rocketship. It's warm here today, 72 degreees & very sunny, windows are down. We are side by side at next light. I get his attention and I say, " W-O-W - that thing really goes, what's in it ? He tells me a bunch of stuff, 'ya know, tuner-ville trolley stuff. He asks about my car.
I tell him it's a 6 cyl, and the McLaren stuff is just an appearance pkg. of decals & dual exhausts.
Light turns green, & I buried him. He, pedal to the metal is working like mad to catch me. I took her upto 61 MPH in a 35 zone. I lost him in my R.V. Mirror. The car never went so strong, as today. Babied it the rest of the way home & put it away & covered it.

While there; the PARTS manager ran a through check for me (us) on that bezel.
#1. There are NONE in all of America in ANY Authorized Ford Dealership. ZERO ! He scanned the country.
#2. THE NUMBERS are wrong !

The 1984 & 1985 & 1986 - but for 1986, only cars made From Job1 in August 1985 thru Mid-January 1986 were E4ZZ-7D443-A

1986 AFTER Mid January to final 1986 made in September of 1986 were E6ZZ7D443-B as something was changed ??? It doesn't say what.....

He ran BOTH numbners.... N*O*N*E !

Well, hope for Repros then.

Sandy, the partsvoice search and the dealer search are two different searches.

Partsvoice has dealers/vendors in it that the Ford dealer won't have. The dealer will have Ford shops in it that partsvoice does not have.

I put in the E6 part number into partsvoice and got back ZERO.

Since we have done BOTH searches (Ford and Partsvoice), I guess repros are your only salvation unless you want to try to do something yourself.

As to the part change in 86, I bet its going to be something really really minor.

Once in a while, I get on it. Today Iwasn't going to, but it was running so damn strong, healthy and just sounded so damn good, 'ya know, that bass-iee deep take all comers kinda sound.
I was in this town where my wife's 1st cousin is top leutenant on the force and also past president of PAL in that town and also past president of the Jewish patrolmen's benevolent association, so I just have to drop his name and I'd get a friendly warning. Otherwise I don't do that stuff
