Guys,

Not to enflame the Capri fanatics among us, but read the description for this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... %3AIT&rd=1

Too bad he didn't make a Black Magic Cobra edition or something cool insead of yet another aeronosed Capri.

Somebody should contact him and see if he's got any of those original Black Magic parts left.

Sounds like he has some of it:
There are numerous other parts that cannot be listed due to space limitations. Also, BRING A LARGE TRUCK, I have NUMEROUS parts to go with the sale(Factory hood, hatch, doors, front and rear facias,ECT.......)
I would assume that some BM things like the seats are long gone.

I'm the high bidder but didn't hit the reserve. Guess he really thinks he can get 9 grand.

I'd take it rip off the nose hatch tail lights etc and put em right back on ebay where they belong.

Listing it as a 1993 Cobra clone is quite a stretch.....................

But you have to admit, he did some really nice work (frome what few pictures there are) and he has some quality parts installed

You could not replicate that car for 9 grand....... if you count your time too.

That is very true, Daytona Tim, looking at it that way. But, from where I stand, comparing it humorously, we could also add color to the Mona Lisa.

A 1982 Capri Black Magic V-8 sitck is definately a "Special Interest" and rare & frequently sought after car. A true purist would have recognized that quality in the Black Magic, and woulda / shoulda done the same project on a 1982 Black Mustang GT. He obviously held little esteem or respect for the for the "Magic" black Capri :D

What's the going price for average condition "Black magic" capri?

I have found that people respect the rarity of cars only when the price starts getting up there a little.

I have a friend of mine that regrets all the 57 chevy hardtops they cut up and beat the fenders off at the dirt track, in the 60's. But in those days they were just a 10 year old car.

Then again...... because they raced and cut up all those 57 Chevys they in effect increased the desire and reduced the supply thus making it a collectors car. It's a vicious circle :banghead: :banghead:

In this case it just makes them more obscure and forgettable. It will not increase the value of the current lot of survivors.

The only time cars become more valuable through attrition is if they're already highly sought after.

Was the "Black Magic" Capri a performance version of a standard Capri?

Or was it a unique combination of standard options?

I have to confess I am pretty ignorant when it comes to the Capri history.

It was really a trim level option. You could get the 6cyl or v8 in it....but not the 4cyl or turbo 4.

Here's the page from the Salesman's Guide Booklet. Another great thing about them were OTHER not included options, that really brought the package together, such as Recaro Seats, 302 V8, 4-Speed or Auto,TRX Tires on Metric Gold Wheels, White or Black Exterior with gold accents pin stripes and Gold Cougar Head outline and even fleece & leather or all leather Recaros.

Here's a little, look under BLACK MAGIC

I liked the White Ones better, simply because of the unique white tailamps, the even rarer quantity. They could really be optioned out!! The wheels on the above car are aftermarked, and wrong.

You could have Recaro Seats, the 302V8 and a 5-Speed of an Auto and T-Tops or Pop Up Sun Roof, and hoards more luxury features. Even fleece & leather seating (Non Recaros) They made it 1981, 1982 & 1983. 1983 was the only one with the Bustle Back "Bubble" rear window.
