Listed as a 1986 but the vin checks out as a 1985.

I asked the guy about his 1 of 17 claim.

His production # is wrong. It's NOT 157, but 150 ! Since all 150 were built exactly identical, there is no merit to the " 17 " claim.

All 5-Speed / All Midnight Navy Blue Metallic / All Grey Interior / All with Kenwood Stereo / All with Air Conditioning.

Variables didn't begin until 1986 in the coupe.

Sun Roof
Paint Color
Transmission
Pwr. Locks
Speed Control
Wheel Color
Axle Ratio
No Air Conditioning

He better correct that the 85 and 86 are two very diffrent cars mech wise! As we know but vin# cks out as an efi? per AUTO CK

Seller needs to add more pictures.. Maybe,
some int and eng shots would help the sale. Unless,the
seller is trying to hide something.. I dont think thats only
27,000 miles on that car either.
But, we have definetely seen much worse !!

Is this Carfax? You cannot go by carfax on the VIN. Carfax is not a source of information to determine ANY makeup of the car. Carfax call my car a 5.0 CFI 4v

Sandy. I must respectfully and "gently" disagree. Don't get mad at me but there are people with cars with factory TTop and Sunroof 85 Coupes. And they have the codes on the door tags and body tag to match it. They may be later in the 85 run but they appear legit. Peter on this board has one with a sunroof. I have quizzed Hank on this issue and he says that there are many 85s he has seen out there that have not been built to "spec".

Anyways...I got a note back from the guy and he claims to have a break down sheet for all the 85 cars.

I have asked him to contact you Sandy. I hope he does if I didn't piss him off. If he does have some sort of "list" even if it can't be authenticated. I would love to see it just to see if it fits my "view" of things.

What I am saying is.....
I, Sandy have never viewed - even in picture form - an 85 with these items on it. I will admit that some do exist ~ however, somewhere amonst my pile - no mountain of stuff, that the initial D32 order code FOR the 1984 & 1985 Coupes was for a Dark Blue Metallic coupe with the lt. grey interior and radio delete with standard 5-speed and A/C and no other options/choices. Yes, it's totally possible, even probable, that due to dealer requests that a handful were made with Cruise, T-Tops or Sun Roofs and maybe even A/C delete and/or power locks. I am (or was ~ guess I'll alter that) going by the original D32 code specs.

God, by now you'd thimk I'd learn to never say.....NEVER!

Ahhh yes. Never say never.

I always think of the above picture when you talk about all the 1985s being built to spec. A girl with her foot in a sunroof and the sign in the back with 1985 on it. I concede that I can think of a few reasons that the car may not be a 1985 in that picture...but I still wonder...

We all know there are no 5-speed efi cars in 85 only aod's with the cfi

mike is right kinda... my car has a sun roof but its an aftermarket ASC sunroof. BUT my car has speed control with power windows and no power locks sandy has told me in the past that this is really rare. and that if the dealer had orderd speed control they normaly add power lock for the exta 30 or so bucks... it would be really really really cool to find out some day how manny cars had power windows and speed control but no power locks. it would be even cooler to find out that it may be 1 of 1. oh and my body tag agrees with me and has speed control listed on it but no sun roof

Peter, they ALL had Power Windows! Power Windows were standard equipment.

The options on a Capri RS were:
Air Conditioning
Automatic Trans.
Power Door Locks
Speed Conntrol
T-Top (or Pop Up Sun Roof)
Optional Axle Ratio
Stereo Delete

The ORIGINAL 1984 & 1985 D32 Spec Code for ascMcLaren Coupes INCLUDED the A/C and Stereo Delete, WITH radio Preperation Pkg.
As we have seen, some - not many, but some cars have been located with T-Tops and/or Sun Roofs and Cruise Control and/or Power Door Locks & remote hatch release. I have even found a 1985 in Oxford White ! (actually 2) I believe it to be a very late 1985 offering....

My 85 has a factory Ford sunroof!

Now will this info come from the door tag or the body buck tag for proof?

I tried to take a picture of each but the outcome is blurry on the door tag and blocked on the buck tag. Got to work on my photography skills

Also thinking about the car that started this thread. Not too far at 185 miles. I asked him to tell me about any rust in the usual places.
