The value will not go up, unless the general public has a desire to own one, most people don't even know what a ASC Mclaren is.
Let's have some sort of reunion, it's worked well for the SVOOCA, have a get together meet other ASC Mclaren owners, talk cars, cruise, have dinner, shoot the breeze.
I think it is great to have the Forum , but let's do more.

Yeah on a similiar note...did anyone hear about how much the Shelby Cobra GT500 (the 2007 version) went for at Barrett-Jackson???
$600,000!!! I know some of it was for charity but still...with this...the first car going out at this price...the suggested MSRP of under $40,000 was just blown out of the water...I'm sure these dealers are gonna try to get 10g's over sticker...
But to my point...the bar was just raised and makes the values of these cars so much higher...NOW and in 20 years when they are "old"...something our cars have not been exposed to...

I got a note from the new owner, he's going down to FL to pick it up, then over to Hanks to load up on parts and then he's going to truck it all home and start working on it himself. I'm assuming he bought it outside the auction.

Due to workload, it took me while to get back to this website...looks like it's gonna go to the great white north and get a full resto...this Hank fellow must be smiling already! Faxed off the contract to the owner on thursday and he'll be faxing it back tomorrow by his email. I don't think I could have found a car farther away from me if I'd tried, but wasn't having much luck digging one up in western Canada! Hoping to get down to pick the car up before the end of may, but if my schedule won't permit that I'll have to ship it. Evidently,that's as long as it can be stored in it's present location. As I said to Mike, may fortune favour the foolish...
Yeah! A 72 with a small block...kinda rare but nowhere near as desireable as the BB cars in 70 (and a few 71's & 72's)...seems thats what everyone wants these days, in buicks anyway. Mind you, I've liked these capris right from day one when everyone else wanted a mustang! Go figure BTW, suppose I should change my handle but it just seems to be too much trouble, ASCDave just doesn't work!
In keeping with the general tone of the thread (or what it's morphed into) and as a general way of introducing myself to the ASC community, thought I'd second that motion from a few posts back about driving the cars and getting out and meeting other owners and enthusiasts. It seems as the values on the vehicles rise, their mileage takes a corresponding drop! Not to mention their ability to be enjoyed...as much as I get into these forums, there's no substitute for wheel time...anyhow, soon as I get this ASC in my garage, I'll post a few pictures for general interest. Between what I know this car needs, and what I think it will probably need, I've already blown the rest of this summers' disposable income...so much for wheel time... Plus, I've got a lot to learn about these cars in the next few months; looking forward to cruising the forum over the next while. Cheers, Dave
Same one...didn't meet reserve, but came close enuff that a deal might still get done. If not, maybe I'll get to enjoy it this summer...poor car has basically been holding the shop floor down for about 4 yrs! And it's getting surrounded by capris... BTW, the reason this car isn't done to a level I (and a lot of other people) aren't comfortable with is I learned a long time ago to take one car apart at a time! My 79 capri has been undergoing a ground up for about 18 months (as time permits, cause I'm doing all the work) and is almost done; most of my Buick efforts have been concentrated on my 70 GS. In addition to my 6 months of road work I put 2 or 3 high end paint jobs a year thru here plus a few bikes. Somewhere in between this I try to eat and sleep... it seems that the only cars that ever get finished in this shop belong to other people!
I agree with only having one apart at a time. Once you go to a frame off concourse level resto (using mostly NOS parts) there is no turning back. While I do love to look at a "trailer only" quality of car, I like to keep mine nice (Mclaren and 70 GS 455) but "try" to not get too carried away for fear of not wanting to drive them anymore.

Eric, my sentiments exactly...I can't enjoy a car if it can't be driven. Looking forward to getting this ASC up here and seeing what can be done with it, hopefully we can get it to better than a 20/20 level...ie, at 20 mph and 20 ft it looks OK!
