Hello members, I've lurked around behind the scenes for awhile and have finally registered. I don't know if I will post or be of any value around here but here I am. I own a car that has been mentioned in your archives a number of times before I bought it. It was for sale on E-bay at least two times and that is how I became the owner. It is an 86 50SC Red with tan top and interior Auto and wears the Muscat plaque claiming it to be 0015 of the 245. It has obviously had a bit of paintwork because the plaque was moved from the passenger quarter to the left trunklid and there are non stock decals on the bottom rear of the fenders that say Ascmclaren. Car is super straight and absolutly rust free underneath to my surprise. It even still has paper tags on the springs. It does need a little interior work but it can all be done easily. Sandy you can elaborate on this car if you like...Vin #1MEBP79M7GF604010

First things first. Welcome to our site!! Hope you enjoy and participate!

All I can add on yourcar was that ascMcLaren received it on November 11th of 1985 and shipped it out on December 9th of 1985. All of the rest, you have allready noted. The Red used on her is Porsche Guards Red Code POR-027 and it's also Audi's "Laser Red" code H1H1. It is NOT clearcoated. ascMcLaren factory options were:
Automatic Tranny
Front Air Dam with Foggies, Side ground effect skirting, rear under bumper air valance with exhaust tip cut-outs.
Recaro heated seats with stereo speakers in the headrests.
No Charge bumper-body-bumper tape stripe, Gold.

With your paint color top/interior choices were:-
Sand Beige interior with Tan Top
Dark Charcoal Interior with Black Top

How long ago did you buy the car? I think that I remember it being on ebay, based on your description of the Muscat badge having been moved.

Welcome to the site. Please do not hesitate to contribute.

Hi Robert, I've had the car for 13 or 14 months now and it was on E-bay at least once before that four to six months prior. Looking around the web I have found pics of it on the web. I don't have pics hosted anywhere only in my harddrive. Pics that are out there can be viewed at

Hi Sandy and thanks. Are you saying this car should be wearing the ground effects or just that it was optional?? It does have the auto, the recaros, cruise control, an alarm, and a behind the front grill mounted "reciever" for the above mirror mounted radar detector. I have read that the radar detectors were mounted below the glove box??? It also has standard capri style door panels without the rope that I have seen referenced to as only being on later cars because of supplier issues or something. This is no doubt an early car.

The ground effects from the ascMcLaren Coupe (where they were standard) were optional on cars like yours.

I do not believe that your radar unit was asc installed. Do you know the brand of it ?? asc used Whistler ~ IT it's a Whistler, it might be, but I've never seen an above R/V mirror installation by ascMcLaren.

I am pretty sure that yours is the car that I remember seeing on ebay, and on which I almost made a bid. I ended up buying mine not long after the auction concluded. It's great to see that you came to this site as well.
