Early 85 Capri code help

I'm such a retard.

I was looking at the PILE of literature on my table when I noticed the 1985 (Revised Feb 1985) Lincoln Mercury Product Facts book.

Leafing through it, there are pictures of the 5.0L/RS cars without the "RS" side mouldings and very direct references to the availability of the 5.0 engine for GS cars....yadda yadda yadda. No mention of GS cars with air dams and blackout mouldings. No mention of "RS" anywhere either.

It probably won't settle much though.

Tomorrow I will scan it....I hope.

Maybe I can come accross the original revision. I have both for 1986 but not 85.

I bet the same DSO was also used through to the 80's. This would make sense since the first Carfax entry was for Florida in 7/19/1990.

Mike, DSO 23 for Ford is Memphis & DSO 23 for L-M is Jacksonville at least for 1985.

Could it be possible for you to scan the list in or type it in? I looked on-line and did not come accross a L-M DSO list. This would be great to have for other Capri owners. Even if you can take a good detailed digital image of it, that would work.

Are you talking about the change from "Capri RS" to "Capri 5.0L"?

I have one page from a 1985 Facts Book dated July 2, 1984 that still referred to the 1985 model as "Capri RS".
I have the revised January 25, 1985 of that page also and that one has the model change to "Capri 5.0L". (probably the same one you have)

Nevermind, I got somebody over at FEP to post the 1984 DSO codes...

I wonder why Ford used a very similar but different DSO code lists for different divisions?

One of my books says that Ford has used that code on various 302's from 1968 - 1991.

I did a quick search of cars for sale with VIN's on various sites and engine code "F" was used on 302 equipped Grand Marquis' & Crown Vic's from 1980 - 1991. It could have been used even further back on those cars but I stopped looking when I got to 1980.

Hi Sandy, you may or may not remember speaking with me shortly after buying this car last year (May 03). I believe I may have even sent you some pics. This is the 83 ASC that was on ebay around March 03 -- the one with the headlight louvers / different bodyside moulding and way too many other quirks to list. Although I haven't been able to really start restoring it as of yet, I still can't find anything to disprove that it isn't legit. I've been battling with my computer & scanner to try and get the images sized properly among other things...

otherwise I would have posted them already. I think I may have even sent Mike (negusm) some as well.

Headlight Louvers & B*I*N*G*O ~ it all came together in a flash. I didn't know that was you on here! Well...... WELCOME a bit late, but sincere none the less!!

Okay, I in fact spoke to a very knowledgeable person about your car, but then we lost touch with one & other. He suggested that you pur her up on a lift. He sid that the VIN is stamped many many places on these cars, and you should look and see if all of yours match. He was certain that you car is (at a minimum) two cars pieced together! He said all I told him regarding it was 90% impossible. He sid none were ever built with any louvers anywhere, and no green cars until 1988 and other things that I can not recall. He is not with asc any longer, but gave me a name to call & ask for. Said person he felt might have all the VINS for 1984, (which Sandy doesn't). Then I (again) told him it was a 1983. He said, "We weren't doing these cars in 1983......)

Did you notice the wholesale prices?

The radio delete wholesale price was $124.70. I knew the $148 Customer price but don't remember you posting the wholesale price.

I have a few more pages that you don't show, I'll get them scanned and sent to you so you can post them as well. They are the ordering guides with all of the option packages & codes. there is a LOT of info in them that is very helpful.

I also noticed that your price sheet is missing the "NET WHOLESALE" column and also the base prices on the first page don't match mine.
It almost appears that they were "re-typed" by someone.

Do you have the 1986 books too?
If not, I can scan and send those too.
