NEED HELP QUICK

Post by brstrike »

Hello, I haven't posted on this site before so hello again.I am looking for some help so I think this is where I can get it.I am going tommorrow to look at a 89 red asc mclaren vert with 110k miles. The guy said over the phone the seats need redone and something about the latch that pulls or holds the top down is broke. He is asking 3200 obo is this a good deal? Also, are those things the seats and top very expensive? What could this car be worth if I restored everything to original? Thanks god bless

The seat COVERS are available ( http://www.ascmclaren.com )
but not "cheap" ~

The power latch pull down is expensive and a PITA to get fixed. These were the #1 most frequent problem with these cars.

The seller's price isn't bad, but the mileage is on the high side. There are others 4-sale out there frequently with much lower mileage. Granted, for the year it is, it represents "just" 6,471 miles a year ~ but, in the grand scheme of things, at 110,000 miles anything & everything is up for breakage ~ Parts DO wear out; even on Rolls Royces ! :(

I think that is a great price. These cars are rare hence the price of the parts, but because they are rare they will be sought after in time. For that price I would buy it and just store in my garage for twenty years.

so if I did take this car back to excellent shape with the 110 k miles would this car be worth more than 3200? I am just trying to see if this car would be a good investment thanks god bless

These days with the price of collector cars skyrocketing it may just be a great investment. My thought is that it would we worth about $7,000 in great shape today. In ten years who knows. Ultimately if you like it and would like to drive it it's a can't lose proposition. You won't find another rare collectors car that turns heads for less than this!

If this is the car I am thinking of it may also need wheels, tail light covers, arm rests, door panels, aside of what you mention. IMO its still a good deal like others said even if you hold onto it and leave it in garage for some years.
