Floor pan worth fixing on ascMcLaren

Hey guys. Is this worth fixing? Chance at buying a ascMcLaren and this looks like the biggest problem with it so far. How easy is this to fix? How much would be the cost?

Well you can get a new floor for about $300 but it does require some welding knowlege or the knowabouts of someone who will do that kind of work.

I shoud cost you under a grand for the whole floor but I would check the rest of the car carefully. Look at the frame rails and make sure they are not full of holes as well. Unfortunatley the ASC's are mostly convertibles and folks that leave the top down in the rain or more often don't fix leaks in the top can make a perfectly good car have floors that look like that.

Ultimately it comes down to price and how much you want it. If it's only like 2G's and the floor is the only problem then it's a great deal. If it needs everything else as well right now you'de be better off saving a bit of cash up and buying a nicer one. To really say what kind of deal the car is we would need to know what options the car has and exactly what condition the car is in.

The car is a 86 with T-Tops, auto, ascMclaren wheels, and that black with white striping.

If it's just the floor pans, they can be replaced fairly easily. Most all of the classic Mustangs have had this done and it looks like the newer cars won't be much of an exception either.

My dad did it on the 70 Mustang vert and I think that was about his first bigger job welding and it came ot fine.

If you can't weld it yourself, get an estimate from a body shop and a welding shop. The welding shop should be very cheap but you'll have to do any disassembly and reassembly of things like mouldings, carpets, etc, yourself. You may also have to take the old pans out first and get things prepped for them to simply place the pans in and weld them in. The body shop will of course do as much or as little as you need....and will be priced accordingly.

Bottom line, if the damage is relegated to the floor pans, it's a common replacement area for most cars. The car definitely isn't worth junking because of it....it just will need to be reflected in it's sale price.

That's the one off ebay. It needs a big resto. It would be worthwhile as it is a 1 of 9 vehicle but I would want to check it further. From the pictures I saw of it it doesn't appear to have a straight body panel on it. Over 200K is a telling # too.

Looks like a stock Ford stereo.

Maybe the original was swiped and the dealer installed something else?
