Adhesive for outer windshield molding

What adhesive would you recommend for attaching the outside windshield trim on converts?

Also, I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have a trim piece for sale? I can temporarily "fix" the current piece, but I'd like to have a new one as a spare for when I repaint the car someday.

I was driving on the highway and somehow air got under the top of mine. It didn't rip it off, but came close. Scared the h**l out of me. The whole windshield started shaking like crazy. I was a long way from home so I had to stop at a rural grocery store and tape it down.

It's called Butel (pronounced Beau-tal) tape. It's trade slang name is "DUM-DUM." It's sorta like a black super sticky putty, but comes on a roll, not very different than scotch tape. You can pull it, stretch it, shape it how how want, mucj LIKE putty. Wear rubber gloves, it's somewhat messy. It will hold it down forever ! Non porus, so even washing the car will never affect it. Try to buy it from a body shop, they'll sell it toy you cheaper than retail. I'd buy a foot or so.

If anyone elses car has the cracks in the frame at the corners, be careful. I checked very thoroughly and didn't think there was a chance of any problems. The heat wave and a longer than usual ride may have gotten the adhesive soft enough to loosen it up. Not a fun surprise at 70 mph.

For cracks at the 90-degree turns of the moulding, I'd suggest looking in the yellow pages for a body shop that specializes in Corvettes (i.e. = fiberglas) and have them fill the crack, sand it and paint it. It will last for some time and is waaaay easier than getting that pesky moulding off, getting the bonding glue off, obtaining (and paying) for a new one, and then having the new one painted & installed. Neither way will last forever, with use of the car.
