interior paint

is there a company and color that anyone recomends me useing on my car i am hoping to get it painted and a new carpet put in within the next few weeks

I recommend Metro Finishes (aka Metro Mustang).

The stuff I used seems to be holding up allright for me and was a perfect color match.

hey mike did you use the vinyl dye or the interior paint for that wright up on your web page? they both have the same part numbers on the metro mustang web page

also i was reading that someone over at FEP was useing this web page for paint to spray there engine bay http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spray_paint.asp what paint code numbers do i need to use so i can order a few cans

I use the Lacquer paint only. I have had no problems with hard (like kick panels) or semi soft surfaces (like dash pad or console pad).

I would only get the dye for carpet, and door panel vinyl which is softer.

I saw that thread too. I think I may try that route too. You need 3L (1985 Midnight Blue Poly).

I think I may want to try that clear coat. I have yet to find a good quality clear coat in a rattle can for touchups.

i tryd what mike sugested...

first i would like to say that for $88.33 shipped i feel like i was robbed. second on metros website it is a bit hazy as to what you actuly get i thought i was geting 5 cans of paint but no for 88 dollers i only got 4! cans of paint and a can of plastic tulips... im upset and think this is all crazy...

dont buy metro paints unless you want to pay $22 a can for paint... gosh i didnt even pay that much for my body paint

$88 shipped is getting pretty steep. Last time I got some I think it was $65 shipped.

I don't really like their adhesion promotor...I like the Duplicolor adhesion promotor the best (from autozone). Metro's adhesion promotor does work fine though.

Make sure you clean your parts with some simple green. Use Vinyl Prep (easily found at autozone) for final cleaning and clean clean clean.

Then apply the adhesion promotor...a couple of coats and then the paint.

Do this in the sun when temps are 75 degrees or above. You get terrible blushing to the paint at lower temps. In lower temps you need to use a heat gun or hair dryer or hold the part over a hot stove to make it dry fast enough to not blush.

Other than that though, on a nice sunny 80+ degree day, you can move right a long. Apply the adhesion promotor, and immediately apply the lacquer paint. Trust me, the drying time will be too quick to wait.

I tried scratching some kick panels I did a while back and the stuff is very durable. Make sure you give your parts 2 weeks to cure...or they will scratch easy.

Yes it is. I think I might try to see if a local paint place can mix me a matched spray can of the stuff and see if it works as good as the metro stuff. I have heard it can be $15 a can from places that do that.

Oh, and SHAKE the can like you never have before!

The old stuff used to settle something fierce and it would come out BLACK if you didn't shake the hell out of it and towards the end you'd get white spots. But if you shook it (and swirled it as per the directions), it came out fine for the whole can.
