Got to drive the asc around!!!
for a day, then the speedo gear slipped back into the tailshaft again. This weekend I'll be pulling the tranny out again. I've got to find some way to keep that from happening, anyone know where I can get a replacement whatever it is that holds the gear in place? Its the gear attached to the tailshaft

Try a Mustang speed shop...they are always selling speedo gears for gear swaps etc. I'd try Downs Ford or Dayton Ford...both Ford Racing dealers and both in New Jersey.

Kyle,
There is a metal clip that keeps the gear in place. The polished area on the output shaft has a hole in it, you put the clip in place slide the drive gear over it, and it snaps in place, much like the clip that holds the wiper arm to the motor ( not the same clip, but same idea). If a picture will help you, let me know.

hey mike, my lifelong friend is / was a salesman at Dayton Ford on "18" ~ they moved him over to their toyopet store
but he says his income almost doubled. they may be good for parts, but I would not buy a car there. slam bam house. PITA customers, too they shop 20 dealers before they buy & sell 'ya down the river over $ 12.33 rough buyers on "18"
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Re: clip
hmm, I saw the hole last time I had it out. Maybe I can get the clip from the ford dealership, don't they still use the T-5? I'll have to see what I can work up this weekendsvt1996cobra wrote:Kyle,

Kyle,
They are still available through Ford, for a couple bucks. If you have any issues getting one, let me know. I may be able to find one around home for you.
