I had my top down, today on the Silver Anniversary. Took her out for a little ride (10 miles) and home. From having battery disconected, (as always) all my radio buttons setting are wiped out. Put in a cassette, listed to Marvin Gaye. She think he's tops. Then some instrumental jazz...
Next week I'll work on trying to get up the guts to take Azura Blue out of captivity.

I still have not figured out why it does not have the correct rear valence. Someone must have messed up the original, I imagine. I did not realize that it was not correct untill I read the post the other day. Should I change it to the correct one, if I can find it?

LOL, I was just going to mention to you about the rear valence, someone beat me to it.
About changing it, its up to you. They did a good job with it. If it bothers you that its not correct for an '88, then change it. I would bet someone did at one time get rear ended and FUBAR the original. (personally I think ASC greatly improved the ground effects package for '89 & '90)

The rear valence does look fine, but I think I would like to replace it with an original, if I can find one. I believe someone said they had an 89-90 for sale, but I believe it is different. If not, I am interested. Please let me know.
I would like to make and keep the 88 as original as possible. I will have to do more research to see if anything else has been altered. (other than the radio-it seems alot of those on the ASC'c have been changed.)

If you want to go the originality route, in case you didn't know, your seats have been altered. They should be solid color scarlet since you have a red interior.
I first found out they were dyed when I had read your post of the Kruse Auto Auction and had the pictures of 245. I read Sandy's infomation regarding the seats, but I am stll not sure if it is only the dye job that is changed on the seats. It does not have Mclaren on the seat. Did they make any that did not have it?
You know,it is funny, and I do like original, but the red and white looks kind of nice in the car.

They did a nice job dying the seats, and your right it does look good. Two tone seats have become popular as of late, quite a few cars offer this kind of decor in their interiors now. And yes, the seats should say "ASC McLaren" on the seat backs on the upper part.
Whoa, the seats in the McLarens were NOT dyed by ASC, nor McLaren. They are the GT (optional Leather option) seats! The cars arrived at ASC McLaren wearing the standard CLOTH GT Articulated seats !! The cloth covers were (savagely) razor cut off by asc McLaren and an on hand supply of FoMoCo correct leather GT covers was embrioarded with ascMcLaren on the back rest in pre-chosen color thread depending upon leather seat color and ascMcLaren installed.
The seat sew style is different on the 1990s from the prior years.
This is why the "blue" color is different on the 90s, as FoMoCo changed the blue color for 1990, as was the "grey" color alterred (slightly).
The blue went from Regatta Blue to Crystal Blue and the light grey went from Titanium Grey to Opal Grey, both a slightly lighter shade than their prior shade.

No, no Sandy, I wasn't saying ASC dyed them, the previous owner did. I was just saying it looked like a good job.
So, I wasn't aware of this, the Standard seats in ASC cars had the Standard Ford mustang GT leather seat covers that were simply embroidered? I didn't know that.
I certainly wish I had talked to you both when I was shopping far a car. I just saw it and knew I liked it. Still do.
However, so if I understand what you are saying is that my seats are not just the wrong color (being two tone) but are probably not the right seats at all or were just recovered incorrectly? I agree, they did do a nice dye job on the seats and the white sets it off.
Another thing to add to my list for the car, right behind the paint work and some small interior work. In the meantime, they are in good condition. I am having paint work done, the hood, the front bumper is coming off and being sent out and stripped at Keystone and a few other little paint things. Probably being done in the next few weeks. Any advice on making sure the paint matches well? I looked up the paint code Sandy has on site.
Also, could you tell me if the parts you order online from Henry are knew from the stock he purchased or off of other ASC's?
Besides fixing this one up, I still would like to find one to "just look at". I know you know what I mean.
