Sandy,Sandy wrote:I stated that on the EuroCoupes the side rear windows were normal. Meaning they did not get the supplemental aluminum frame to hold the smoked black plexiglass covers over the real underneath factory glass. This is correct. However, EuroCoupes DID get at ascMcLaren the matching smoked black plexiglass little triangular covers over the faux vents, just rearward of the side rear windows, between them & the opening of the hatch. These "plugs" were installed at ascMcLaren.
What was "supposed" to have happened with the EuroCoupe's and what actually did get built I think are two seperate issues. There seems to be so many discrepencies when it comes to the EuroCoupe's that it's no wonder that asc did not keep any detailed records of them.
My EuroCoupe had the rear window treatment on the quarter windows as well as this other EuroCoupe:
And this EuroCoupe owned by MERC RS:
Where do you draw the line as far as what is or is not correct when the factory clearly built these cars differently than what they say they did or maybe what they may have initially planned on doing.
With the NLM EuroCoupe's thrown into the mix it even becomes more of a mess but you have to admit that when it comes to the original 21 EuroCoupe's that were assembled at Autry Avenue, a "by-the book" EuroCoupe may have been a rare occurance if at all.

There was NO WAY a T-Topped Coupe could get the quarter plastic windows, as the cut for the top interferred with the aluminum frames that held in the plexiglass. The auction car is missing its vertical finishing aluminum bar, (the one that on my car chips at the top edge). That is off BECAUSE the owner has obviously cut his upper bar to "fit" ....
Regarding which way is correct. The "Here's How ..... " (understrood...we build the EuroCoupe) sheets from ascMcLaren state that the 1/4 window aluminum frames holding the plexiglas darkened 1/4 "windows" is to be omitted from the build.
I too, have seen pictures (many on this site) with these windows & frames installed. I have seen in person 2 EuroCoupes. 1 had them, the other did not. Neither car had T-Tops. Both owners claimed to have never added nor deleted them. It is possible that there was a 2nd - or follow-up - sheet altering this & instructing workers to install them. I do not know.
Somehow, however, I cannot discount owners withOUT them, seeing full packaged Coupes with them and adding the items. There are only 3 items per side...1-piece aluminum frame, weatherstriping, and "window".
Not too hard to do !

HEY, stop busting my stones!
LOOK! This has no black out 1/4 windows ! Look at the picture, for gosh sakes! There are NO aluminum frames to hold it in!!! Look at the white paint strip goingdown the verticle part! If it had them, that would be covered! There are NO frames ! This window wears NO plexiglas! Its got a dark tint aftermarket type !
LOOK: (You also cannot engrave plastic like that !!)

Sandy,
I am not disputing the fact that a T-Top car would NOT have had them installed I understand that all T-Top cars, Coupe or EuroCoupe did not and could not receive the quarter window plexiglass.
I'm just saying that I have seen at least 4 other EuroCoupes besides mine that have the plexiglass quarter windows installed. That along with other "discrepancies" in some EuroCoupes that suggest to me there were many cars built differently than what they were "supposed" to have.

Absolutely! Northtown recieved every part that was suppossed to go onto a EuroCoupe. Their parts dept. was bursting at the seams withascMcLaren parts.negusm wrote:Sandy, would the NorthTowne ECs have gotten extra parts if the customer wanted them? Soooo.....is there any correlation to the cars that have the "extra" parts to the ones from Northtown?Sandy wrote:Absolutely! Northtown recieved every part that was suppossed to go onto a EuroCoupe. -MikeAs you know, they sold them like you buy groceries at the supermarket, one at a time. MSRLP ++ on each. In addition to factory options such as A/C, etc, there would have been over 9 exterior and 6 interior parts.

I don't know.
I posted all the EuroCoupe VINs on here, yesterday. Did you see ? If the car 4-sale (auction) posted its VIN ~then at least, fro now, THAT car could be checked. Northtown wasn't about "correctness" in manufacture, they were about selling as much as they could, at MSRLP ++.
I have come across EuroCoupe owners in the past, that recalled that they paid in excess of $21,000 for their Capri "ascMcLaren" {EuroCoupe}

Thanks for posting the EuroCoupe VIN's along with their corresponding colors.
I have a question though, in your previous posting of those VIN's, you had stated that #618898 had become a full-package Coupe.
http://www.ascmclarencoupe.com/phpBB/vi ... .php?t=538
Just curious as to which one is correct regarding that VIN.
Thanks,

I looked at the high bidder's previous bids and nothing "looks" suspicious. He even won something.MercRS wrote:sorry boys I smell a rat on this one lot of bidders that NEVER bid.

I hate "no feedback" bidders too. You never know if they are legit or not.
