i could exsplane but i have a very very hard time putting what i am trying to say into words. after you strugle reading through what i am trying to say you will still be clueless. maybe i can find a link online...

ahhhh sweet copy and paste... i love google.

"Mike the cam lobe from top of point to heel (up and down), then mike it 90 degrees from that (sideways). Subtract the small dimension from the large"

the numbers might be off a bit but should be close to the .277" or .300"

Looks like I may be doing a cam swap soon. I just don't know if the valves will clear the pistons on the stock 89 block with 1.7 RR.

.310" humm... i would think that you would have gotten a reading alot closer to .300" like .302" or .299" what did you use a mike or a caliper?

an E303 cam has a lift of .311"

i dont know what you got... its for sure not a stock cam

The caliper I have is old so it may not right on either. I will try took take it down to my buddies house later tomorrow or over the weekend. He is a machinist so he has better tools than I. I will have him mic it. He can check both intake and exhaust for me. I'm not sure which one I checked.

I and E should be the same if its a B or E cam... sounds like you have a B cam and a crapy caliper. i would for sure have your buddy mic it out for you if you plan on installing it. he might even degree it for you!

Just checked the adv.
Ford Racing hydraulic roller camshaft M-6250-B303 that provides significant horsepower increases above 4000 RPM and good low-end torque. Valve lift is .480" on both intake and exhaust. Duration at .050" is 224 degrees on both intake and exhaust

yeah ford figuerd in the rocker ratio to get the valve lift of .480"
.300 x 1.6 (rocker arm) = .480" of lift at the valve.

you will have to use a degree wheel to find the duration if you dont know for sure what the cam is.
