Gave my paint guy the Paris Blue code you gave me for the Akzo Nobel system— FEU:9979 and he painted my bumper that color, but unfortunately it is a shade darker, and has a lot of purple in it that makes it not match. Can you double check that code for me again— I think something is wrong, since I don’t think the whole car could have faded that much. Thanks for checking.

Checked it again and that is what I have, printed upon ascMcLaren Paint Information Sheet(s). Sound like he didn't beat it up (shake it up or mix it) enough. Otherwise just get the Nissan code 426 Bright Blue from 1987. Same color !!

Weird— watched him do everything correct, he told me the code called for 2 different purples, which is what ended up making it too dark. I’ll have to find out the 3 letter/number code for the Nissan 426. Willl do some calling and let ya know.

It will never match after 20 years. Paint starts to fade the day it is painted. Just pull off an outside molding and you will see the color difference. You can really see this at the junkyard. It is impossible to match any color exactly. That is why every good bodyshop or painter blends the color into the adjacent panels whenever they repair a panel.
In your particlular instance what may have happened is that the weakest toner in the OEM formula, purple, faded in your paint film. That is probably toner number 952. Now that you are using the unfaded original color, it APPEARS to have too much purple in it. Even if you keep your car indoors all of it's life it will fade. Toners oxidize in the presence of oxygen, not just ultraviolet radiation like the sun.
There are a lot of reasons that the color may have been mixed incorrectly before being sprayed also. If the color was mixed in a can, the smallest volume toners are added last. If you then put the lid on and put it in a shaker these toners will stick right to the top of the quart can lid and not be mixed properly into the color. If the painter doesn't scrape the lid down then sometimes no amount of shaking will help fix this. If the paint was mixed with a wooden stick the color might be wrong because certain toners will be sucked into the wood. There are a lot of other reasons that paint will not match also.
Do your homework and see what you find out on the Nissan code.
My next door neighbor said that he painted the hood on a blue car once. He used the correct code and it appeared too dark. He saw the car 6 months later and he said it must have "cured" to very close to the correct color cause it was a much better match.
