My first sighting

Post by stangmodifier »

In March of 1985 I was out cruising in my 65 Mustang like I did almost every night of the week back then. I was in a town lots have heard of since hurricane Katrina. Slidell La., just North of New Orleans, at the time a pretty happening town as far as the cruising scene went. It was late on a Friday night and I just completed the eastbound loop of the cruise and while pulling out of the McDonalds I saw what looked like a black Capri but it had orange stripes down the side and around the bottom going in the opposite direction. I got turned around to get a better look, caught a redlight and lost it.
Two weekends later I ran into it again and really checked it out.It was a dark blue not black, I thought it was hot!! It sounded mean, looked mean, it was just awesome. At about 11:30 that night I was again turning around in the McDonalds and saw it just as it ran right into the back of a large 4 door car that was stopped for a light. It got smashed up pretty good, creased the hood up and wrinkled both the fenders real good. It had less than 500 miles on it at the time. I left the area soon after that and relocated to Kansas where I still am today.
I still wonder what ever happened to that car, did it get totaled or was it repaired. I have had a desire to own one ever since. A year or two later while reading some magazines I read about the convertible model and thought it was pretty cool but not as bad assed as the coupe. I still want one of those damn coupes and will have one one day. Never really wanted a convertible but I stumbled upon one after selling a 68 fastback I owned for a little while. The Vert is nice but I want a coupe!!
