Door speakers

Post by svo413 »

I believe the doors are 4". I'll take a look later. I'm in the middle of changing the rear end oil on the car. The rears? I don't know what is supposed to be in there if any. The Recaro seats had speakers so probably no reas with them. Mine has both but I'm sure it was an after thought as they are not on the sides in the rear.

speakers?

My 50,000+mile 85 doesn't have any speakers in the rear, and there is no indication that it ever had any. It has the original Recaros.

If a car came Recaros then it the speakers in the head rests instead having any the back. Not sure on the rears, but my fronts are 3 1/5.

Marty is correct. No rears when Recaros were ordered.

Strange. I have both, the Recaro's and rear speakers. I guess one or the other was added. Is there any way to verify whats correct?

I think 85's never came with speakers in the rear and always had them in the headrests.

86's are apparently different as I have seen many with speakers in the rear.

What kind of speakers are there now? Kenwood? Square covers?

The 85s I think had square Kenwood rear speaker covers...which I later found out wer used on some 85 coupes. 86s I'm not so sure but I would guess something similar.

Also, you can pull the speakers and check the model numbers and see if you can find roughly when that model was available....if it is vintage 1985/86 then it is probbaly original.

The speakers originaly had square grills but were since replaced with a set of after market ones. I can tell they were square by the fading and impressions in the carpet.
