Anyone else have a chance to see the latest October issue of MM? There is an "almost" great article on fox body mustangs going back to '79. The article is titled "Fox Hunting". The reason it gets an "almost" great from me is that it goes into depth about many of the cars thru the years (some of you know where I'm going with this I'm sure) and guess what!? Nope no mention of ASC Mclarens at all. I counted 3-4 different sections that the ASCs should've been brought up, but forget it. Of course Roushes, SVOs, Saleens, and even one kind of '80 limited edition mustang I've never heard of

were all discussed.

Oh well, I guess I'll just keep answering the question "What is that?" I'm thinking of having a 3x5 index card made up so I can just hand it out whenever I hear that

I carried my M81 McLaren to the MCA show at Barber Motorsport park a few weeks ago. There were around 1200 Mustangs there and not one ascMcLaren. You guys are going to have to start putting you cars in shows to get some respect. later Kendal

Hey, if I had that car I would enjoy it and drive it not make it a "Trailer Queen". That's why when you see cars with low mileage the owner never drive's it. Believe me when my car is done I will drive it all the time of course my car has 160,000 miles on it because CarFax said incorrect mileage because it rolled over.

Well......lest me stick my 59 year old neck out here, & try & explain.

Sometimes, when a person (ME

) has something (ascMcLaren) that they totally are in awe of, and have spend countless hours caring for, investing major $$$ into and when taken out "in public" they risk having ruined or taken from them, the fear of losing it, and/or the fear of having it severly damaged, is a fear that is greater than the joy of using it.

My wife has a 2001 Jeep Cherokee (XJ - little Cherokee) LIMITED 4X4 & allthough in is 5 years "young" it's flawless with 35,500 miles on it, or 7,100 @ year. She sharesthis vehicle with our son, who who works in Manhattan NYC and needs to take the train in/out daily. Weekends it's totally his....
I have my 2003 Lincoln Town Car Limited Edition, with 11,400 on the odo.
So.....it's not like we have crummy cars to do daily chores/trips in.

I prefer that neither of them get hit, but if they do.....they do.
The McLarens on the other hand are sacred.

So, I prefer to keep them "as-new" ~ and cut the risk of having a yakking female on her cell, flipping her hair, talking on her cell, and applying make-up at every light, lighting up her cigarette and bouncing around to the music, not realize that I have slowed, or stopped, and slamming into my McLaren, wrecking it for. me.

People buy artwork, the wealthy for millions, and hang it on a wall. They seldom stop anmd LOOK at it! Yet, they get great pleasure from owning it.

Such is me, and anyone who does similiar.

I think people in Michigan and Ohio are doing a pretty good job of getting out and round this year.

2006 Saleen

Hey..WOW ! I guy I know recently took delivery of a '06 Saleen. It's a S-281 Supercharged Coupe. It's deep blue with grey interior. It's wearing Saleen 20" chrome wheels/tires and I have no clue as to what options it has on it. I have seen it just once. It's very low to the ground - especially in the front by the air dam and most driveways & parking lots he doesn't enter. I know it cost alot !! He is keeping it stock. It's the only Saleen i've seen in at least 10 years.

Well our 2006 Saleen S281 is a Stage 1 (Soon to have Twin Turbo or Supercharger hopefully

). It is Windveil Blue on the Exterior and Black and Silver Interior. I will post some pictures of it in my album today or tommoro.

Windveil Blue is the light(er) Blue & this was the darker blue. What is a Stage I ? Like where does that fit in ? I don't know alot about Saleens....But my friend told me that you have to go thru 2 options lists. 1 from Ford, as to how the Mustang is initially built & then a 2nd from Saleen from their option list. You now seem to indicate that there is also an aftermarket option list - yes, or no ?

I think its great what you do with your cars. Everyone has their own thing. I personally would like a blend thats why I have my 88 as my Sunday driver and will get a 90 for my garage.

I know Roush has stages like I, II, and III not sure about Saleen. I do know they have a base model, then one with a s/c, and another called the extreme which is a step above with 550hp for current year.

The guy I know, has the S281 with the Saleen Supercharger. That is the "biggest" engine set-up a buyer can opt for and STILL get the Ford factory installed automatic transmission. {He HATES driving a stick!} Uses it as a daily commute car,

and here in the NY/NJ dense traffic of stop & go AM & PM commute, it's a pain driving a 5-speed. He woulda gone for the "Extreme" but the FoMoCo auto can't handle it.

Regardless, it's a beautiful car (that cannot enter 70% of all driveways/parking lots, w/out damaging or breaking its front air dam! ) He said the incline cannnot be greater than 12%.

I can't understand how all of these Mustang history stories and articles keep forgetting about the Mc's.

They sure don't forget the Foxes that 'ol Steve Saleen started firing off at the same time do they?

I'm sure the Fox Hunt write up is based mostly on Miles Cook's (Tech Editor, Mustang Monthly) recent purchase of a 92 Fox that he's really hot for right now.

He's really jazzed about this Fox car. It looks good from 25+ feet away, but it's nothing stellar.

He had a Highland Green '05 that was specially painted for an article (I think it was Car and Driver, or Motor Trend?) for a Bullit revisted story where they re-lived the famous Bullit chase scene with that car vs. a black Charger last year. He got rid of that green car because he didn't like making monthly
payments.

I talk to Miles often, I worked with him last week on a header install shoot for my '06 GT.

When I get my Mc done, I'm going to have him shoot it for MM and I'll see if he'll title it " The Forgotten Fox"

That would be great to see your car in the magazine. I was so hoping to try and get mine in a magazine once I am done with it too. The more publicity the better for us all.
