Finally took some pictures this past weekend. Now with the correct ascMcLaren wheels mounted. Uploaded a few into my album if anyone is interested.

Nice ! I like your License Plate. So many of us have something similiar. I have NJ MCLAREN on 1 of them.

Is your passenger-side tailpipe oval, while the driver side is round? (Or is that the camera angle?)

EDIT: Just the view....I looked at the other pictures.

Thanks for the compliments Sandy/Mike! My Dad was the original owner of this car and lived out in the country back in Ohio. Long story short, a big stone flew up in front
and broke the original grill. Jeff (CobraJeff - my big brother) prefered the 5 bar grill and put this on it many years ago. I have been looking for an original 3 bar for over 4
years now without much success. Several have shown up on Ebay, but most of them have chrome trim or broken mounting tabs. If you ever see a good one, let me know.
I like the looks of the 5 bar, but would probably mount the 3 bar if I had one!

I would like to submit for FEP Calendar, but I do not have a 5 meg camera. Mine is only 3 or 4 (can't remember) and it is like the 3rd one I have bought in recent years.
Don't think I can justify the cost of another camera just for the Calendar...

I think you are right the Gold wheels do look better

As for the grill just buy a chrome one and paint it. The chrome just unbolts, so easy to paint. I will look around I may just have a spare or two. But its getting cold here and days are too short and dark.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Need headlights on going into work and coming home from work this time of year. I hate the short daylight hours!

Anyone know if the chrome trim on these grills is coated plastic or a thin metal moulding strip? If the later, could it not be taken off carefully and the glue stripped? Seems to me the chrome is typically a narrow strip on the very outer edge. But then I am only recalling from pictures I have seen.

The grill is made up of two pieces. The main plastic body piece which is getting tough to find completely undamaged. The second piece is the trim piece which (for the 3 bar grill) is made of metal. If you got the RS grill, you got a black metal piece. If you got the GS grill, it was chromed. This trim has little posts on it that fit into the plastic main housing and are attached in the back with self threading speed nuts.

I really do not want a painted grill as I feel these stand out like a sore thumb on our cars. But it looks like I may not have much of a choice. What are your guys thoughts? Would a painted 3 bar look better than the natural grey/black plastic 5 bar?

This is odd. I don't understand the problem I guess. No grill was "all plastic".

Original Mclaren grill and light bezels;

Huh, the front of this grill and the 5 bar currently on my McLaren are solid plastic. Possibly some metal tabs to the back side for support in mounting, but totally plastic exposed to the front.

Nope.

Check it again.

There is metal trim on the front. Don't make me get my spare grill out and take pictures!

The only difference between the GS and the non GS grills are swapping that metal trim from black/grey painted metal trim to chrome plated trim.

Edit: The 5 bar grill may be different but the three bar grill is definitely this way.

I'm lost. I haven't seen my Coupe in so long I have not a clue what it has, other than
it's a 3 bar and a dark charcoal grey color, with a chrome ascMcLaren emblem
on the lower driver side, that's glued to the OEM "MERCURY"
nameplate that's underneath.......

Uhhhh yea!! lol.

I can do the legwork on setting it up for whoever is interested! We will need high res pics though...
