Came across an unusual example 4-Sale 2-Day

Post by Sandy »

This car has around 37,000 orig miles and I am told (I didn't see it) that it's in exceptionally good condition. A Merc Capri ascMcLaren 2-Seat Convertible, in White, with the Sand Beige interior and a Tan top.
This car is very special, as it's one of the few six cylinders that they made. Therefore, of course, she's an automatic. The unusual part is that 99% of all of the 2 handsfull of sixs were void of any options ! This car has everything. It's the ONLY six cyl. that I have ever come across (in the 20 years I've been doing this) to have the $ 1,765.00 extra cost leather RECAROS ! (and) THEY WORK ! In addition, it has the optional Power Door Locks, and the original Am-Fm Stereo with Cassette and the premium audio system with the speakers in the headrests. She has the optional air conditioning, and the white BBS mesh wheels. She is bone stock and the person who called me on the car, is pretty sure she has the evasive rear driver's side power antenna.

If you are interested, e-mail me ( cigarsandy@comcast.net ) and let me know. I am of the understanding that this is a 1 female owner car, never raced nor altered. The price is $9,900. No Rust, 100% original, I am told. Driven just 2,000 @ year.

The dealer it was traded into, did a web search and guess who popped up ? If anyone is interested I would suggest that they ask the seller for a slew of detailed pic. The car is in Atlanta, Georgia. I'd love to see a single exhaust pipe sticking out the back. That's gotta look odd. I believe that the car also has the front air dam with foggies, side ground effect skirts & the rear under bumper air valance. In other owrds, it's loaded with the 6.
I think it's a cool car, 'cause it's so unique.

Yeah pretty cool.

Sandy if you do a goole search on "ascMcLaren" or "asc McLaren", this website pops right up near the top.

Definitely a good thing for people searching out information on these cars.

Some ambitious soul needs to secure a bunch of photos of this unique car and post them here.

Remember, a few months ago a 6cyl white vert with blue interior/roof was on ebay.
....it also had the leather recaro seat option.

That is SOOOO rare !! Most of the 1986s that were 6 cyl had only Automatic, not even the Pwr. locks! Most had standard low-line cloth buckets. A few were recovered in ascMcLaren leather for like $400.00. Recaros in a 6 are super duper rare, as are the coupe's ground effect skirting !!

I see it was not sold! Reserve Not Meet.

That is 1 rare piece, but take note, no ground effects. Someone either put on the taillamp covers....OR took OFF all of the ground effects. Of course I'd have to assume they just put on the taillamp covers.

Did you notice the chrome grille bars ? This because the doner car was a Capri GS, in order to get the 6 Cyl. THAT'S how to spot a six, from the exterior !
The absolute rarest Capri McLaren would be a 6 Cyl with Recaros & the Ground Effects package, with Power Door Locks in Paris Blue with either a black top and black interior or a tan top & Sand Beige interior.
I doubt any were made.
