Great Surprise!

Post by ckj »

Today I had a delivery from the mailman. It had all of my cars original documention! I have the window sticker and a bunch of other stuff. I couldn't have asked for a better delivery. The guy I bought the car from found it in his basement...

I am sure that there are those here who would love to see you scan and post those materials. That is quite a bonus!

Very Nice!
If you are wondering what is the "Sports Delete Group" ~ it was made up ONLY for 1985 & 1986 ascMcLaren Coupes. It deleted 3 items.

1) Lower Front Air Dam normally installed on RS Coupes
2) Front Fog Lights
3) Lower side & rear bumper cover flat Charcoal paint ("Accent Panel")

I am not familiar with the Special Axle Code. I was of the belief that they all had the standard Capri 302 V8s normal axle ratio in 1985.

I know some examples, (such as mine) were fitted with 3.73:1 rather than 3.23:1 by FoMoCo FOR ascMcLaren, but only for 1986 coupes. Now, it appears that some (?) 1985s were so fitted as well.
It would be great if you could find some documentation as to what ratio your car has !! VIN-wise, yours looks like an early 1985, so that makes thngs even more confusing. I figured IF it was a late late 1985, okay, maybe a few at the end got the other ratio, but it appears not true, as yours seemingly is an early 1985.
Maybe you could shed some light on this? Original owner, does he/she know ? :screwy:

I don't know exactly what the Special Axle Code is all about. I think that I'm the 4th owner and found some receipts from the 2nd owner in 1988 that show he bought and had a richmond gear 3:73 rear end put in. So that makes me think it didnt have a 3:73 in it, or the 2nd owner was really dumb!
