powered vert top

Just watched a show on the science channel about ultimate convertibles and a Aston Martin DB9 was voted top of all time. There was one that converted from top down to top up in 17 seconds powered. To me the tonnau cover and top looked very much like and operated the same as our Mclaren verts but it was powered! Obviously it would not be economical to use parts from one on a Capri or a Mustang version but it does seem that somehow powering one of our types of roofs is possible.

I think the biggest headache of it is that you'd have to bring POWER back there to the motor and connect the motor. Perhaps "steal" a system from a car that has the most similiar design, perhaps a Corvette or a last years Volvo (2006 - 2003). I'd think you might be faced with a too weak motor using the 'Vette, as it's a much smaller & lighter roof. I believe that the Volvo is the absolute closest design in size/weight. Then there would be some mods. Pretty big undertaking. Is it worth it ?

Mid to late 90's Saab 9 series vert's had a full power system mayby some of those parts could build the beast and you can pick those sleds up at a fair deal too boot!
