What is my 85 Convertible worth?

Post by red390gt »

As I mentioned in a post earler this week I had a new top installed and some body work done on my 85 recently. I called my insurance agent to let him know I did these repairs and to increase my "Agreed value". He said OK, how much is it worth now? My response to his question..."oh I don't know, do you have a book to look it up?", he said I should get it appraised. I want to wait until it is 100% done so I need an approximate value now. I know this is hard but can any of you take a guess by looking at the pictures? The car has 50k miles, is very clean on the underside, looks like it was kept inside most of it's life. I just need a ballpark so I get the correct Agreed Value coverage.

For insurance purposes. Tell them $15k.

It's an agreed value, so it's not subject to book values. It's best to "err" in your favor.

Last time I looked

Post by svo413 »

The last time I looked it up, the NADA price in 2005 was $9575 as the high. Since my car has 112K miles and I paid $3500 for it, I insured mine for $10,000. I can always up it later. At that time I figured it was worth $5000-$7000.

Putting a value on it is one thing but what would you do if something actually did happen to it? Would you take your money and move on? Or would you try to replace it? Selling a used car is tough and most of the time the price suffers. Buying a nice car to replace yours, well now it's a whole new ball game if you can find one. Plan on spending more than book valve, thus insure it high to start with if the plan is to replace it. Mike would be correct for a low mileage car like yours.
