Well I have my #1 favorite annual car show just around the corner, on May 20. I have never won a trophy at this show and I'd like to. Don't get me wrong, I still can have lots of fun and a great time without winning a trophy - but I do feel that I am a contender. A contender who has never won AT this show. I won 1st Place in my class at the "Northern New Jersey Mustang Club" (s) annual show, and I tooka 2nd place at a local show. But, this one coming up is my favorite, so....'ya, it would be nice. Even the Sixty Special Caddy won a 3rd place at a Caddy Fest.
I was going to take the Coupe. The coupe knocks them dead with it's brillaint metallic charcoal grey & popsicle orange wheels, decals, logos, & striping ~ but, for those who don't know - - I've been pretty sick. So, I've been house bound since April 21st, or like 17 days. I had an appt. to take the Coupe for it's muffler. I had to break it. Now, he has no time for me until the end of May. I cannot take it, as I'll get a ticket for a defective muffler.
So it comes down to the Caddy, or the Blue Vert or the Silver Vert.
I have decided to take the Silver Vert. I am much more "Crazy Nervous" over the Blue one (last ascMcLaren made !!) and a nervous wreck when it's allowed out of the garage. So, the Silver Annniversary Edition it is.
( I save the Caddy for the Caddy Show, even she won a 3rd place 1985-1993 class!!
I will get my son to lend me his digital camera and take some pictures.
My question >>> Top UP or Top DOWN ? How would I be more likely to win a trophy. The Grey Coupe & the Blue Vert both have their trophies, but poor little "HiHo Scarlet" hasn't won crap. Advice, please !!

Both! Since your car is in such great condition, I would start the day off with the top up (no wrinkles, no creases) and drop her down when you suspect a judge in the area whom has already seen thhe top up. From what I have heard, the proper way to show an old vert is with the top up. But with the McLaren, it looks so much better being down. Tough call, but you be the judge. I would try to let people see it both ways if possible.
Good luck Sandy! Hope you are well on the road to recovery and get to enjoy the show...

I would normally go with the top down, too ~ ~ but, in many ways, it's the top that is so unusual, being a Mercedes styled design (3 window) and I've noticed with the top down, it doesn't attract as much attention.
I think I will start the day top up and around 2:30, put her down. This is a really tough show to win anything as there are so many many cars, and the competition is really tough. The Blue Vert, the Caddy & the Coupe have won one apiece. So, I really want one for the Silver Anniversary Edition car.
In truth, I think Silver is a dead color. Well, at least at car shows, where they like red convertibles, or yellow or bright blue or black. The others just do not seem to win, no matter how perfect they may be.
This is the Millburn, NJ show. Millburn is an extremely wealthy town, probably in the top 5 in NJ. Average home price is like a Million. Some are 6 & 7 million. You can't even begin to imagine the stuff that creeps outta some of those garages ! I mean, if you live in a 2 million house, what's $150,000 to restore a car ?? Pocket change.
