That is interesting funny how they had hopes for 100 and only ended up with 30.

the demand just wasnt there for the capri. also there was the factor of not enough of the capris were being produced.

I've always liked your site,There is alot of info on it to be had. I alway
thought those GP cars had alittle something special under the hood.Why
are the 5/spd cars 210/hp and the auto/180hp same 5.0 motor right?

some cars(mostly the track cars) were modified & had some work done prior to the race, but most were just show cars and runners so there would be no need to modify those.

so far only 2 automatics have been located & both those are the back up track cars. the rest were all 5-speeds.

Gee.

The big difference was the 5-speed's had the 4-barrel carbs last year for carbed stangs and capris was 85 and the auto's have the weak FI attempt throttle body fuel injection that robbed the hp. Then in 86 they went to multi port fuel injection as only feature and got the lost hp there.
