The ascMcLaren Red listed, is actually the Muscat Red listed above it. Just a name change,
between 1986 & 1987.

Outstanding Sandy as usual. why didn't the 84/85 receive the silkens paint

Mine is starting to chip everywhere, with 58,000 it shouldn't be doing that.

Almost like she has the chickin pox  very poor quality paint.

Gee. :)

Where did you hear, or why are you under the impression that the 1984s & 1985s did NOT recieve SIKKENS paint? They did, if you are speaking of the converts. The Coupes were never repainted, as there was no real reason to do so, as there was no "body work" or cutting, or conversion work. The Coupe bodys got ground effects, a spoiler and decals. Oxford White, Black, Midnight Blue & Silver Metallic, as FoMoCo painted them in Michigan.

Thanks for the compliment.

Sandy I thought I read that on this site, could be wrong. Since I do have

silkens paint I'am highly disappointed at 58,000 mile's this paint shouldn't

be doing what its doing. Must be a friday car .

Gee. :)

I assume that it's a convertible, then ??

Can't answer you as to why it's doing what it's doing. 90% of them have held up extremely well.

Thank you :!:

But there is a problem, of sorts. Our car are 23 years old at the most and 17 years old, at the least. The weather, the elements, fallout, airborne pollution have all worked their "wonders" on our cars. (Well, all but mine, 'cause I'm weird and never take them outdoors) ~ regardless, I fear individuals will get a nick or scratch, order & pay good money (as opposed to bad money?) & not get the results they seek, as the pint is new & the car isn't.

This will not happen if the user is doing a total repaint, but a section or two is very very risky and the user will get pissy-faced at me, and assume the I supplied poor info. (Which I didn't) !

Did I do right in doing all this research, or will it come back to haunt me :?: Will people do this to me :notworthy:

Or this: :destroy

Sandy, now that you put together such a fine resource, you need to assign an underling (other than me) to put together handy-dandy links to photos of cars in each of the colors listed. Some of the colors sound interesting, but I cannot picture in my simple little mind how they would look on these cars.

I would assume that most all of you have seen most of the colors. Am I wrong ?

Some are so close that in photos, they will look the same. In REAL LIFE (this isn't??) one can see that they are slightly different, but in photos they will look one in the same.

Dino Yellow & HOT Yellow (Dino is lighter)
Regatta Blue & Azura Blue (Azura is darker & brighter)
Muscat Red & Red Snapper are 97% the same !! A tint more orange in the Muscat Red.
Not to mention the TWO Paris Blues ! Almost identical, the Mustang one a bit brighter & deeper than the Capri one, but just slightly.

Candy Red & Regal Red-Fox are different, but....in photo you are not going to really see the differance. Candy is deeper & brighter with NO brown in it. Regal Red-Fox in a medium to medium dark reddish-brown.
Sort of a red-rust color. It's very attractive with a Sand Beige interior & a Tan roof, as they all were.
