Eurocoupe NOS.

Post by bigzeke42 »

While bleeding the brakes on my Eurocoupe I took down some numbers and wanted to know if anyone knew what they are? Are they standard NO'S for a Capri or were they changed by ASC?

Front springs NO. E5SC-5310-MA 74.577855 MOL
Tie rod ends NO. Left side: 14-7134-B8

One would need a 1986 Mercury or Ford parts book for look-up duty on this. Sorry, I do not have one. I think that others here do, however.
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Eurocoupe springs, etc.

While I cannot say this with certainty, I seem to recall that EuroCoupes didn't get all the suspension, B303 cam and valvetrain pieces that the Full Package ("FP") coupes did...I thought you detailed this along time ago for me when I emailed you about EuroCoupes, Sandy?

Zeke-
I looked it up in the 85/86 Mercury parts guide I have.

Front Springs, by code are: E5SZ-5310-K

Tie Rods are: Inner / E8SZ-3280A & Outer / E2DZ-3A130

These parts are the same as STD/Heavy Duty/Special Handling codes with the exception of the shock absorber selection. STD/HD shocks were prefixed as: E6PZ while the Special Handling pkg shocks were: E4ZZ

I believe ASC re-identified all suspension part # suffixes to facilitate their own supply system. A lot of the interior/body garnishments also follow this criteria. All parts maintained the FORD NOS Base P/N Codes though.

Hope the info helps.

Any idea where these NOS come from? The ones on my tie rod ends.
What kind of NOS were on the T-bird tie rod ends?

Zeke-
The tie rods are T-Bird as they are slightly longer in conjunction with the special handling package. I will have to check if my EVTM manuals identify the tie rod P/N's.

Talked to a parts man at Northeland Lincoln Mercury and he said that the springs on my Eurocoupe also were T-Bird springs.

Yeah supposedly they were not to get those things.

Looking in my Mustang decoder book, they list a lot of TBird springs for Mustangs in there. Whether the book just lists a bunch of springs whether they were on a Mustang or not, I can't say.

Remember, even if a part has a TBird prefix on it, it doesn't really mean that it wasn't also a Mustang part. Sometimes a part is designed for one car and later only used on another.

For the tie rod tips you would have to get yourself some Tbird or Mustang tips to compare against to really know...or take some detailed measurements. I am sure a few people could take some measurements as well and see which are on your car.

I measured my tie rod ends at 7" with nut and 61/2 without the nut.

Ordered a t-bird tie rod end (E2SZ3A130A) from Green Sales and got it today. Checked it with the tie rod end on my Eurocoupe and they matched, so my Eurocoupe have t-bird tie rod ends.

So who's got a Mustang one to measure :)

Sandy has always said that it was absolutely impossible to tell the Eurocoupes from the Full Package cars when on the assembly line. Probably especially true at Ford. Did your car come with any other full package items?

Not for sure about the springs, the tag on my springs is E5SC-5310. I have a leather covered steering wheel & gray pipping.
