I'm converting my 85 from AOD ot a T5, console question

When I switch to a T5 transmission, will I need a different console insert so the shifter and boot fit correctly? The opening looks a little too small for the T5 shifer and boot. Did they use different console inserts? from automatic and manual cars? Anyone have one available for sale for an 85?

Yes, you do. You can get them from CJ pony parts or places like that. I'm sure I have one laying around too.

Which car do you have? Coupe/vert/year?

I know that the T5 transmission required a hump to be added to the transmission tunnel in 1983 when it came out.

The 83-86 consoles used a different ash tray and a a different console bracket that went under the ash tray area.

The boot was also different from the 4speed manual to the T5.

for 87-93 I have no clue what exactly the changed were.

Being a vert, don't you have the asc console? It's a custom job and I have no idea what the differences are between them.

I would imagine though that asc had to contend with the same hump/no hump deal that Ford did.
