Post by Agent-J »

I am looking for a MotorCraft Battery for my 1985 5.0SC the dealer says they are longer avalibable I do not care is it date coded correctly I just want a MotorCraft battery. The car has 17,000 orginal miles and would like to keep it as original looking as possible.

Does the battery have to be GOOD. For I see lots of batterys but they are bad and thats why i see them. So what I'm saying is that I may come across a battery that whould LOOK OEM but not start the car.

The dealer was too lazy to look it up. There is a Motorcraft battery available. I just bought one a few Months ago for my 84 SVO. I don't recall the model but I will try to go look at it.

The Motorcraft website lists 2:
BXL56A 84 Month Wet Battery
500 CCA - RESERVE MIN = 90
TESTED TOUGH PLUS
18 MONTH FREE REPL

BXT56 100 Month Wet Battery
550 CCA - RESERVE MIN = 86
TESTED TOUGH MAX
36 MONTH FREE REPL

Now I am looking for an original battery which will probably be nonfunctional. I need this for the class I show my SVO in. I haven't located the exact model yet but it is a white case and black to battery.

The dealer actually looked it up and ordered it then called me back to tell me it was no longer available.

I just checked with the local Motorcraft distributor and both are not obsolete and are still available and in stock. Like I said they are too lazy to order it. I had the same problem but when I gave them the part number it showed up in a few hours!

The previous listing in the Ford books is probably no longer available. Go to the Motorcraft web site.

You didn't list your city so I could check the local supplier.

I need a battery. What's the Cold Cranking AMps on them? What's the part number for a correct one if anyone knows?

Thanks.

Sometimes I'm a bit slow with the humor or was my previous post in invisible type.
