Convertible electical interlock

Post by toddf »

I have an 86 conv. I am having problems with the convertible, the motor checks fine, but I can not get power through the relay maze in the trunk.
Does anyone have a diagram of the relays in the trunk, or a theory of operation. I have already downloaded the schematics and pictures provided on this awesome site, but they do not show the green and black relay in the trunk.
Thanks,
Toddf.

As a side note, I think you also dicovered the WHY of WHY ascMcLaren quit installing the Recaros, beginning with 1989.
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Sequence?

Post by svo413 »

What is the exact sequence of the pull down motor.

Down, latch top, latch tonneau and then use the button to run the motor down and top taunt.

Up, unlatch tonneau and then what? When does the pull down motor run back up?

Mine seems to work in only one direction with a new motor. Time to look into the wiring since the new top goes on next week. Is there any adjustment on the top to tonneau latch? Mine popped out once and ripped the top when flapping.

Trunk Relay

Post by svo413 »

I can tell from experience, don't unplug the green relay box in the trunk and then close it. The trunk will not open. The trunk interlock switch goes through the relay. If the interlock works and the trunk opens, the relays are good. Henry's schematics are very nice but they really do not show the relays. Probably since they did away with them on the Mustang. I will try to attach my drawing of the relay box.
