Post by lightning95sc »

Anybody hear from Sandy, yet? Wondering if he's come home yet. Hope all went well for him.

I got home at 9 PM last night. Pain? I have more pain than I ever thought any human could endure. Had stomach muscles cut. I have no ability to sleep laying down, as I cannot get up to go to bathroom. I sleep in the den on the sofa that reclines. I have strength in legs & feet to push footrest in and that brings the back up and arond & I gen get up. I walk bent over, like "Father-Time" and cannot straighten up. My tummy has 4 cuts in it (Surgery). They took out 10 inches of bowel (Colon). I walk using a cane, now.
The tumor was the size of a quarter in circumfrence.
Dr. says I will need 4 to 6 sessions of Chemo, and I will be 100% cured.
(Early statge - I assume) ..... But right now, 1 thing at a time and now it's relearn to be able to control my bowels, and deal with the pain, that should dissapate over the next 3 weeks. (slowly). You cannot believe the # of people in the hospital - One of - it not the largest in Jersey and 99% of the rooms are full, 5 miutes after 1 patient leaves another is there to take their room.

I'm glad to know, at least, that you're home and things went relatively well.

I'm sorry to hear of the serious nature of your procedure. I guess, however, it says a lot that you're able to get on the computer.

I wish there was more I could do, besides prayers and encouraging word, to help.

Just know you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Sandy,

On a happy note, wait tilll the first time you sneeze. I had much the same thing done back in the summer of 05. Five days after the surgery, I sneezed. I thought I tore myself in two!

I know it doesn't seem like it now, but in six weeks you'll be back playing tennis. OK, maybe eight.

Good luck & God bless.

Sandy,

Hmmm, how 'bout having something you drink go down the wrong pipe? I needed to get intestine cut off the bottom of my diaphram. Along with "The Sneeze That Tore Through My Midsection", my cats got a kick out of me trying to cough. They all gathered around "Hey everyone, Bob's got a hairball! Easy buddy, just let it out, no biggie. We do it all the time."

Like I said, this'll be a bad memory by President's Day.

uhg.....I had been watching your posts and this brings back bad memories.

I am very glad to hear you got this when you did Sandy. Take care
of yourself and get through that chemo. Sounds like your on the right track.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, get well soon.

My dad had an apple core lesion on his colon, they removed it, but it went outside the wall. He fought this stupid cancer sh*t for a year...I hate cancer, no one
deserves to go at 54....and I sure as hell wasn't ready to lose my dad at 27.....He worked so damn hard to get where he wanted and then that.

Its been 6 years now....I am still not over it. :(

I am up, again.

Capriman, you'll never get over it. None of us do !
My dad died in my arms, my holding him. I held life
and death momentarily in my arms. Major heart
attack. Okay...he was 80, but healthy...and then...
suddenly, on a sunday morning it happened. It took
under 5 minutes..... Gone. His last word, was to me,
it was "Good" as I wiped his forehead with cold compresses,
and my Mom called 911.
Trust me...
You'll never get over it, but you do learn to accept, and
carry on (to some degree)....

I am really hurting, now. I must go. I will try to up
up the energy to come back before dinner.

Glad to hear all is going as well as can be expected... Glad they caught it in good time, colon cancer got my grandfather back in '86. You keep on chuggin' though!!

It's a very hard & painfull battle. My Dr has total faith in my full recovery. But, the pain, destroys most of your abilities. I can't even get out of bed, w/out help. If drop something, it stays on the floor 'til someone picks it up for me. ALL (and I mean
all food tastes horrid. Simple stuff, like Tropicana O.J. tastes like spoiled wine.
Toast tastes like sponge. I have developed an Aluminum alergy, so nothing can come packed in Aluminum. Karen went out & got me Holiday Coke in old fashioned thick glass bottles. I can drink that & it tastes correct. I still cannot tolorate solid food.

If you think that things taste weird now, your chemo might not be any fun if it goes long enough. It can really mess up your taste buds.
